Get your jig on and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the greenest place in the Bay Area!  Not only do we have 100 acres of green space, dozens of green animals, and a vast portfolio of environmentally-conscious programs, we’re also hosting a Shamrock Stroll (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=be82cebdfc&e=7683a9aed3) . Follow along the self-guided tour to find lucky shamrocks featuring fun facts about our animals and get a history lesson on the Irish in our animals!  Guests can get their Irish on and come wearing green!  Enjoy "green" adult beverages (non-alcoholic also available) at The Shamrock Bar near the Lemur Café.

Spotted in the Wild: A Released SFZS Bald Eagle!

A bald eagle raised at SF Zoo and released twenty years ago was recently photographed in the wild! We recently received an email from a member of the public who lives in Anza, California who wanted to let us know that she photographed a wild bald eagle with a specific tag number and later found that she was one of several bred here as part of our successful Bald Eagle Recovery Project. This bald eagle was one of two chicks that hatched here in Spring 2000 and then transferred to Catalina Island as part of our release program. What an incredible success story!
