A Message from the California Public Utilities Commission
This month your electric bill will include a credit identified as the “California Climate Credit.” Your household and millions of others throughout the state will receive this credit on your utility bills. This electric credit is typically distributed in April and October. The California Public Utilities Commission has worked with your utility to change the distribution of the October electric credit so that it is applied to your bill earlier this year. This is one of the actions the California Public Utilities Commission is taking to ensure that higher bills from staying at home due to COVID-19 do not become an added hardship for customers.

The California Climate Credit is part of California’s efforts to fight climate change. This credit is from a state program that requires power plants, natural gas providers, and other large industries that emit greenhouse gases to buy carbon pollution permits. The credit on your bill is your share of the payments from
the State’s program. For more information about the Climate Credit, visit

Disclosure

*Billing periods vary by utility and may not always coincide with a calendar month. If you don't see a Climate Credit in the bill that arrives this month, it will appear in the bill you receive next month. If you are an electric customer, the electric credit will appear as a line item on the electric portion of your bill.
