Updates, news and events in San Francisco parks  Save the Date: Observation Wheel Opening Day on October 21 The wait is over! The 150-foot, illuminated Observation Wheel in Golden Gate Park will be ready to ride starting Wednesday, October 21. The wheel, which provides riders with sweeping views from the ocean to downtown San Francisco, celebrates Golden Gate Park’s 150th anniversary. In honor of its launch, all tickets will be reduced to $10 from October 21 through 25. Buy your tickets today! To prevent the spread of Covid-19, all reservations to ride must be made in advance. Riders must wear masks and practice social distancing. Each of the 36 fully enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas will be thoroughly cleaned between uses. Each gondola will be shared only by people in the same household.   The Observation Wheel is located in the Music Concourse, the outdoor plaza near the de Young Museum, the California Academy of Sciences, and the Japanese Tea Garden. October Youth Soccer Training Events with Dark Side United Calling all youth soccer players in the Bayview! University of San Francisco head men's soccer coach, Leonard Griffin, and elite black college players will offer free soccer training events for boys and girls, grades 1-8, every Saturday throughout October (10th, 17th, 24th and 31st), 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Youngblood Coleman Park (1398 Hudson Ave.). Philip Randolph Institute, and Rec and Park, is excited to announce the opening of a new technology hub at India Basin Shoreline Park in Bayview Hunters Point that offers free Wi-Fi access, laptop and tablet lending and on-site technical support to local residents. Located at Hunters Point Blvd. and Hawes, the Tech Hub operates Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents can either drive up or walk up to the site. If preferred or necessary, residents can access the services from their cars.
