 Dear Valued Customer,
 

As we enter the second day of a three-day heatwave, I want to thank you for your tremendous efforts to conserve energy, especially Saturday afternoon and evening.
 

Despite severe heat across much of our service area on Saturday, our state grid operator did not need to call for rotating outages. Your energy conservation was a key factor in relieving stress on the grid. It was a testament to how we can help each other if we all work together.
 

Forecasts call for sustained high temperatures through Labor Day, and the grid operator has issued a Flex Alert calling for continued conservation. That means it’s still important to monitor your energy usage and conserve where you can, to help balance electricity supply and demand on the larger grid. 
 

Sunday Flex Alert: Energy Conservation Needed 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A few small measures can reduce your power usage. Some tips:

Adjust your thermostat to 78 degrees or higher in the afternoon and evening, after cooling your home to below-normal levels in the morning.

Use a fan instead of air conditioning.

.;
Draw your drapes and window coverings, particularly over windows that face the sun.

Use large appliances less or use them early in the morning or late at night.

.;
Turn off unnecessary lighting.
