Zoom Registration Link Camp Mather to Remain Closed in 2021 We announced last week that Camp Mather, the City-owned family summer camp in the High Sierra wilderness, will remain closed in 2021 due to Covid-19 risks. We know that summers at Camp Mather are very special for San Francisco families. However, the health of our campers and staff are the most important consideration. The shutdowns were made after consultation with health officials. The beloved camp, which has served San Franciscans for more than 90 years, faces significant challenges in ensuring social distancing. Campers share bathrooms, meals, and social activities. Camp Mather’s remote location near Yosemite could present an obstacle to medical care during an outbreak. Additionally, the spread of the virus and its uncertain forecast has made it difficult to recruit camp employees. We look forward to the day we can reopen safely and hope to see you in 2022! More Information San Francisco Brown Bombers Logo Comes to Youngblood Coleman As a part of the Youngblood Coleman turf renovation project, we installed the logo for the San Francisco Brown Bombers, a youth football and cheerleading organization that has been using the field for decades. We are honored to commemorate this community pillar as Youngblood Coleman enters the new year with a fresh look! For more information about the project, click the link below. Youngblood Coleman Turf Project Nighttime Closure of Western Section of Shelley Drive in McLaren Park In response to neighborhood safety concerns in McLaren Park, and in collaboration with Supervisors Hillary Ronen, Shamann Walton, Ahsha Safaí, the San Francisco Police Department, and the community, we are implementing a temporary nighttime closure of the Shelley Drive loop from 6pm – sunrise from January 15 – March 31. During this trial period, access to Shelley Drive at the Cambridge/Mansell intersection and the eastern Mansell/Shelley Drive intersection will be closed. If you have questions or comments please contact rpdinfo at sfgov.org. Winter Lawn Closures in our Parks We are in the midst of winter when days are shorter, temperatures are lower and the weather is wet. During this time of year, our parks can develop natural soggy spots, especially in our lawns. Please note that our staff might close off soggy sections in our parks to protect the turf. If you notice an area that is soggy, please avoid using to ensure that turf doesn’t sustain significant damage. Winter Class Registration is Open!
