ZOO HIGHLIGHTS
This past year and a half has brought us two successful births of meerkat pups and our growing mob is now home to nine!  With the ongoing goal of providing the very best animal care to our meerkats, we have expanded our training program with them. Utilizing positive reinforcement training, animal staff teach the meerkats to participate in various medical behaviors in exchange for some tasty mealworms. The meerkats separate onto nine stations that vary in shape and color and voluntarily participate in a wide range of behaviors including physical exams, ultra sound procedures, topical application of medications, and loading into a crate or onto a scale when cued. The team meets almost daily, and vistitors who are lucky enough to pass by have the opportunity to observe, ask questions, and connect with the meerkats up close!

Zoo Camp is back and in person! The Summer 2021 Zoo Camp season starts on Monday, June 7th and runs through Friday, August 6th. Each session lasts three weeks, and promises to be a fun, educational, wildlife-filled experience for every camper!
