ENDANGERED SPECIES DAY

Today, May 21st, is Endangered Species Day. It provides us the opportunity to come together to preserve and save endangered species and their habitats. We reflect on the conservation stories of hope, like re-establishing the bald eagle and Mexican gray wolf populations from the brink of extinction, while understanding there are still many species that need our help. Black rhinos, Borean oragutans and western lowland gorillas are three critically endangered species we have here at SF Zoo, and a visit to see these animals up-close provides you, our guests, an opportunity to learn from and about these magnificent creatures and the wild places they call home. Thanks to your continued support, you make the future possible for these endangered species!

This week we celebrated a very special golden birthday. Nile hippopotamus, Bruce Bochy, turned 18 on May 18th! He enjoyed four beautiful iced treats filled with green apples, cantaloupe, honeydew and beets!
