This Saturday, September 18, is International Red Panda Day! To celebrate, we're following Tonka on his adventures through SF Zoo to the Youth Exploration Zone to meet our resident red pandas, Tenzing and Hunter! Tenzing, 8, is very active and inquisitive while Hunter, 16, is more shy. Curious how you can tell them apart? Hunter is larger than Tenzing and has a lighter colored face and body. Visit our Tonka's Troop webpage (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=f43048fa50&e=7683a9aed3) to learn more about these adorable animals!

San Francisco Zoo and Gardens is proud to honor Hispanic Heritage Month and recognize the amazing species native to Latin America. Over the next month, make sure to check our social media channels as we highlight animals like the green-and-black poison dart frog, roseate spoonbill and giant anteater. There is so much to discover!

Berani, a Bornean orangutan, turns 12 this Saturday, September 18! If you plan to visit SF Zoo this weekend, make sure to stop by Great Ape Passage to see Berani and wish this incredible ambassador a very happy birthday!
CONSERVATION HIGHLIGHTS

In a small pocket located in the eastern portion of Gail’s Fragrance Garden, a refuge for the Monarch butterfly has been developed called the Pollinator Habitat. This year there has been a collapse of the migrating western butterfly. Come visit our new Pollinator Garden to see easy plantings and learn how to make your own container garden to be part of the solution for this iconic species of butterflies. We can all participate in this small action to help conserve another species in danger of extinction.
