Eggstravaganza Succulent Sally in the Soapbox Derby in McLaren Park It was a great day in McLaren Park with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's Soapbox Derby this past Sunday! Thank you to everyone who came out for this event, as well as to all the participants, including our own Liz Hui, Patrick Sim and the whole Park Service Area 3 team, which put together the entry Succulent Sally. This team volunteered their spare time to build Succulent Sally from materials strictly sourced in McLaren Park, diverting items that otherwise would have been brought to the dump, while decorating it with succulents grown in the park. This entry was meant to represent the daily experiences of our McLaren Park gardeners, and urban gardeners as a whole, winning the Most Natural award! Great job team and thank you for this inspiring artistic vehicle! For more event photos from SFGATE, click the link below. SF Nature Education Bike and Roll to School Week April 18 to 22 For the first time since 2019, San Francisco Safe Routes to School's Bike and Roll to School Week (BR2SW) is back as an in-person event! Whether on a bike, scooter, wheelchair, or skateboard, BR2SW celebrates all students using healthy, sustainable transportation to get to school. This year’s celebration is from April 18 to 22, at schools citywide. Biking, rolling, and walking provides people of all ages with a sense of freedom and connection to their city. BR2SW encourages San Francisco students to experience that through sustainable and joyful ways of getting around. With more people walking, biking, and rolling to school, pick-up and drop-off times are less congested with car traffic, and therefore safer and easier for everyone.
