Young Performers | Oakland Classes
3rd grade - 5th grade

Sing or Swim 🤿

Where: 300 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, 110, Oakland, CA 94612

Students will engage in weekly rehearsals in preparation for the final performance of an original musical inspired by Bay Area youth with original music written by BACT staff. Add to your actor's toolkit by learning vocal, physical, and imagination warm-ups before diving into the blocking, acting, singing,  dancing, and teamwork that it takes to put on a show!

Young Actors

 This dynamic, fun theatre class focuses on imagination and is easily accessible for all types of learners. Enjoy playing theatre games as a gateway to learning about the basics of body, voice, and imagination that actors use to tell stories. Students will share what they've learned in a brief showcase for family on the last day. No acting experience required!

Young Singers

Lift your voice joyfully song in song while exploring musical concepts such as dynamics, tempo, mood, and tone. While students will mostly sing together, opportunities to volunteer for solos will be offered to those who are ready to sing on their own. This class culminates in a brief showcase where students share what they've learned for family and friends.

Young Dancers

Get moving and learning the basics of telling musical theater stories through dance. Explore tempo and rhythm, stillness and movement, and discover how dancers use their bodies and work together to tell stories. Learn introductory moves such as jazz squares, grapevines, and three-point turns, and put it all together in a combo! Express yourself through movement! Students will share what they've learned in a brief showcase for family and friends on the last day of class.

Alien Vacation 🛸

Alien Vacation is the fun tale of neighborhood kids who help some aliens who were left on earth reunite with their families... but can they still get home before the streetlights come on?

Add to your actor's toolkit by learning vocal, physical, and imagination warm-ups before diving into the blocking, acting, singing,  dancing, and teamwork that it takes to put on a show!
