Fall Academy Premier Theatre Training Classes!

🤗 Fall Productions Highlight 🔦!

These are the people behind this fall's musical theatre production courses! 

BACT's Writer's Room 
We are thrilled to share that our Academy musical theater production classes feature the work of our in-house BACT Writer's Room! This diverse cohort of artistic collaborators are from all over the country 🌎, lending their talents to the creation of new work for our young people.

BACT believes that representation is important and that's why we're introducing you to our playwrights and composers 🎼 That is why we have partnered with BIPOC artists to help us create stories and spark the imaginations of the youth in our Academy program! Each new musical is specially crafted for the students of our academy program 🎭 so they can feel ownership of being some of the first to perform these new shows! Young Performers: Sing or Swim 🏊
Ages 8-10 years old
Cruise on down with this aquatic-themed production. Students act, sing, and dance their way to solving a mystery aboard a cruise ship. Will they find the answer in time or will they go down with the ship? Sing or Swim is a musical romp full of siren songs that are sure to have you swaying in your seat and waving for more!  Our classes are built around the BACT Five Pillars of Creative Thinking: Imagination, Storytelling, Collaboration, Self-Expression and Feedback. The session concludes with a final performance for friends and family.

Lead Writer Samantha Miller

Samantha is a youth entertainment writer & performer based in Los Angeles, CA. She hopes to uplift all students with storytelling that has a lens of joyful inclusivity!

Next Stage Performers: Critical Hit 🕯 
Ages 10-14 years old

What happens when our heroes get pulled into the world of their fantasy role-playing game, Torches and Travelers? And how much magic and madness will follow them back into the real world? With opportunities for actors to try on both real-world and fantasy characters, Critical Hit is an opportunity for students in this age group to stretch their range while deepening their understanding of what goes into making a musical.

Middle school students will engage in weekly rehearsals in preparation for the final performance of an original musical inspired by Bay Area youth with original music written by BACT staff.

Lead Writer Samantha Blain

Sam is a Cuban multi-disciplinary artist. Performed Off-Broadway, regionally, on National Tours, in numerous Broadway workshops, and TV/film. She is a teaching artist, writer, and director in NYC; and proud to be part of BACT!
