VALENTINE'S HIGHLIGHT
Delight in a Valentine's Day Champagne Stroll

Birds do it, bees do it! For a different twist on the science of animal mating behaviors, SF Zoo & Gardens presents a special Valentine's Day Champagne Stroll, where guests can pony up to a special Love Potion Bar cart for mimosas or orange juice, then follow along on a self-guided tour with their significant "otter" to visit various animal habitats to catch up on fascinating animal courtship and mating facts. The bar will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday February 12, 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Enjoy a Craft or Adopt a Tiger to Celebrate Year of the Tiger

To commemorate the Year of the Tiger, enjoy a special tiger-themed craft (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=5c22a76d2d&e=7683a9aed3) you can do at home! If you plan to visit the Zoo to see our very own Sumatran tiger, Leanne, our Interpretive Ambassadors will be available at Cat Kingdom to answer all your tiger questions on Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. You can also adopt (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=ca06f3c9c0&e=7683a9aed3) your very own tiger or gift it for that special tiger lover in your life. All of the proceeds raised from our adopt program go directly to benefit our animals!
Donate Your Old Devices to Help Gorillas
We are excited to share that we are once again participating in the Gorillas on the Line (GOTL) campaign! GOTL works with ECO-CELL, an electronics recycling company to tally and recycle old electronic devices, with a portion of the funds generated through the recycling of these devices going to AZA’s Gorilla SAFE, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and Wildlife Conservation Society for support of on-ground protection of Grauer’s and cross river gorillas. Donate your used cell phones, smart phones, iPads, iPods, tablets, Apple watches, adapters and chargers, MP3 players, handheld gaming devices and headphones and benefit the annual Gorillas on the Line (GOTL) campaign now through April 30 in the Membership Office! Better yet, host a recycle collection in your class, school, or club to help save gorillas.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Last week, animal care and veterinary staff members gave our Magellanic penguin colony of 57 their annual exam which included a physical exam, weight & body score, West Nile Vaccination, nail trimming, beak coping, & microchip confirmation. The time of year is chosen strategically based on their natural history as they are well conditioned and the least stressed at this time of year. Magellanics are medium-sized penguins ranging from 3.5-7 kgs and have incredibly powerful bites and wing slaps. Handling penguins is a skill honed over time, so huge kudos to our team who showed great determination and care!
