ZOO HIGHLIGHTS
Happy New Year! We are looking forward to all 2022 has to bring and as a special thank you to our members, reservations to visit us are being waived from January 3 to February 28, 2022! During this time, members with valid membership may come to the Zoo at any time of the day by showing their membership card at the Gatehouse, just beyond Entry Village. We appreciate you, all!

With the omicron variant on the rise, we unfortunately have to close the Family Farm again. As a friendly reminder, face coverings continue to be mandatory at all indoor animal spaces, areas with vulnerable species, like the chimpanzees and anywhere on Zoo grounds where you cannot maintain at least 6 ft. distancing from other people. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

New at the Zoo! We recently welcomed a 16-year-old male red-fronted macaw to SF Zoo. This critically endangered macaw is native to Bolivia and is a part of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Program (SSP). You can find this beauty in the South American Tropical Rainforest & Aviary!

Earlier this week, our 15-year-old wolf, Bowie, moved to a geriatric habitat built especially for him at our Wellness & Conservation Center. This provides him a safe environment as he continues to age as well as permit our wellness teams to interact with him more frequently. We are excited to share that we anticipate housing more wolves in his former habitat shortly. Stay tuned for more details!
HealthTalks by Stanford Children’s Health is a podcast series that answers parents’ most common questions about raising healthy and happy kids. Earlier this week, we celebrated Monifa's 24th birthday! The troop enjoyed a winter-themed party featuring a variety of treats including toasted pumpkin seeds, greens, veggies and alfalfa. Our creative animal care team even put peanuts and raisins wrapped in construction paper to looks like little candies and made an ice cake was fruit juices and shredded coconut.
