Updates, news and events in San Francisco parks Celebrating National Park and Recreation Month with a number of events and activities in our parks this July! Highlights, News & Announcements Summer Play Day Returns to Bayview/KC Jones Playground Thank you to everyone who came out for the return of our Summer Play Day today, July 20 at Bayview/KC Jones Playground. The free event gave kids and campers from across the city the opportunity to hop on carnival rides, play fun recreational games, climb the mobile rec rock wall and more! A special thanks to our staff and volunteers who made this event possible, as well as to District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton and Rec and Park Commissioner Larry Griffin for kicking off the event. Biden Rep Touts Investments in San Francisco Parks Thank you President Joe Biden and U.S. Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary Shannon Estonez for supporting San Francisco and integral park projects, including the recently renovated Bayview Park/KC Jones Playground and the future renovation at Buchanan Street Mall. A special thanks as well to California State Parks for supporting these projects, along with Supervisors Shamann Walton and Dean Preston for being park champions for these projects and our city! Biden Rep Tours Investments in SF Parks Good Government Awards Recognize Rec & Park's Anne Marie Donnelly Last week, the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR) held the 41st Good Government Awards, with this year’s honorees reflecting the city's herculean COVID-19 emergency response efforts. Our own Anne Marie Donnelly, assistant superintendent of recreation and community services, was one of this year’s award recipients as a part of the children and learning group. Anne Marie and our entire recreation division worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, providing emergency child care to families of first responders and disaster service workers; partnering with other city agencies and leading the effort to bring community learning hubs to our most vulnerable students; and working to provide summer camps and resources to kids throughout the city. Congratulations Anne Marie and thanks to you and the entire recreation division for all you do for the families and children of San Francisco!
