Happy National Zookeeper Week!

"National Zookeeper Week" is a collective effort to showcase the incredible dedication of Zoo professionals.  Even during the bleakest days of the pandemic, Zoo professionals worked tirelessly to ensure  Zoo animals received the best of care, both here and elsewhere.  Your Zoo membership, visits, and donations provide the support, both financially and emotionally, for the dedicated animal care professionals at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens! March of the Penguins Returns on August 6th

We are thrilled to announce the return of March of the Penguins featuring our five new penguin chicks on Saturday, August 6th!  The March will begin at 10:15 a.m. and Member entry will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Guardian member entry will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Guardian members receive special perks at the March, including a private Guardians-only VIP viewing section, continental breakfast, coffee/tea/juice service, and Zoo staff on hand to answer any questions you may have about the March and our new penguin chicks. Five Years With Juneau and Valdez

This week marks five years since the arrival of American black bears, Juneau and Valdez! Back in 2017, they were rescued after being spotted and observed as motherless  by Alaska Department of Fish and Game and it was quickly determined that the bears had been abandoned. We are known nationally here at San Francisco Zoo as a haven for rescued animals and we jumped at the opportunity to bring in these two cubs. Our strong conservation and wellness programs created the perfect environment for the new additions and five years later they are as healthy as ever. We are so grateful for these beautiful animal ambassadors!
Donate Your Devices to Gorillas on the Line
The Gorillas on the Line (GOTL) campaign runs through September and we need your help!  Please donate your old cell phones, tablets, chargers and other small electronics in the Membership Office. These devices contain a mineral called coltan which is mined in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also pristine gorilla habitat. Recycling old cell phones helps reduce the demand for coltan which protects gorillas and humans alike. We are hoping to collect 2,500 devices by September 1st! IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Earlier this week, we celebrated our black rhino, Boone's, 14th birthday! Boone's primary caretaker, Katie, setup a construction themed birthday with a variety of treats including a watermelon and an ice cake make of carrots and sweet potato.
