You're Invited to March of the Penguins

March of the Penguins returns next Saturday, August 6th, featuring our five new penguin chicks!  This event celebrates our chicks graduation from Fish School where they lose their fluffy down, learn to swim and socialize with staff who will feed them daily. Once they make their way to Penguin Island, they will reunite with the rest of the colony where they will remain for the rest of their adult lives. We are proud to maintain the largest and most successful penguin breeding colony under human care since 1985 and are excited to celebrate the newest additions with you!

The March will begin at 10:15 a.m. and Member entry will begin at 9:30 a.m. Guardian member entry will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Guardian members receive special perks at the March, including a private Guardians-only VIP viewing section, continental breakfast, coffee/tea/juice service, and Zoo staff on hand to answer any questions you may have about the March and our new penguin chicks. Introducing "Cobby," Our New Train

The Little Puffer miniature steam train, built in 1904, and which operated at the zoo from 1925 to 1978 before its celebrated restoration in 1998, is a rare and historic gem. So much so that we work hard to preserve its condition. As part of this, we are introducing “Cobby,” (named after our beloved male chimpanzee), a new “partner” train that will operate in addition to Little Puffer on occasion.

Come take a nostalgic ride of the Little Puffer this weekend before "Cobby" joins our fleet of trains. There’s nothing like a train ride!  Toot! Toot!
Join Us for Our Next Senior Morning

Our next Senior Morning is next Thursday, August 4th! Senior-level members are invited to join us at 9 a.m. to enjoy the Zoo before it opens to the general public. We hope to see you there!
Get a Discount at Columbia This August

Aviary Closures Due to Avian Flu

Out of an abundance of caution, the Savanna Aviary is closed temporarily and the South American Rainforest & Aviary will be open limited hours (11 a.m. - 2 p.m.) to protect the birds from an avian influenza currently traveling through the state. This flu is not transmittable to humans but contagious to the species within the aviaries. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The hydrangeas in Cat Kingdom and the dahlias near The Station Cafe are in full bloom and are bound to spark a sense of joy on your next visit to SF Zoo & Gardens.
