ZOO HIGHLIGHTS
Red, White & Zoo!
Join us on July 4th weekend – Saturday thru Monday, July 2-4 – for a special Red, White & Zoo BBQ! The Leaping Lemur Cafe will offer a special BBQ menu available for purchase that includes mesquite BBQ chicken quarters, Niman Ranch mesquite BBQ pork ribs, grilled corn on the cob with either potato salad or macaroni salad. Our special Zoo Brew will be available on draft. Stop by 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.!

In addition, the Picnic Pavilion (located by Puente al Sur by the Little Puffer train barn) will host a special 4th of July outdoor bar event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Enjoy lively steel drum music, and participate in lawn games for prizes! Serving up popcorn, chips, brownies and a specialty cocktail bar, with beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

Summer Lovin' at SF Zoo

There's lots to do here all summer long! Spend quality time with family and friends in a fun, outdoor environment. For the animals of SF Zoo, summer means longer daylight hours, which means more time to graze, nap, forage and play. As a Zoo Member, visit unlimited times, 365 days a year!

Here are our Top 10 Things to do at the Zoo this summer. Does your Zoo list compare?
1. Cool off! SF Zoo's unique location by the Pacific Ocean means cool coastal breezes when other areas are hot, hot, hot!
2. See playful bears in Bear Country, spot Mexican gray wolves in  Wolf Canyon.
3. Visit the all new Expedition Snow Leopard to see endangered snow leopards in their rocky habitat.
4. Stroll through the beautiful gardens, take in the lovely fragrances and delightful sights.
5. Tiptoe quietly around the Jones Family Gorilla Preserve and observe Western lowland gorillas foraging and resting.
6. Experience three different biome zones while climbing, sliding and swinging in the best outdoor playground around!
7. Observe giraffe, zebra, kudu and ostrich from right in the middle of the African Savanna.
8. Watch red pandas climb around in their incredible treehouse habitat in the Youth Exploration Zone.
9. Visit the Insect Zoo to see incredible insects in action.
10. Watch the largest colony of Magellanic penguins as they bask in the sun, swim laps and preen.

Zoo Camp is now in Session

Summer Zoo Camp is now underway! We would like to thank you all for your patience as we worked to bring this most popular program back up to speed after hosting limited sessions over the past two years due to the pandemic. Zoo Camp will take place now through August 18, 2022 so you might see groups of children exploring the Zoo with their camp leaders. Zoo's Water Bugs Featured

Our latest collaboration with KQED Deep Look is now featured on YouTube! Deep Look is a microscopic short video science series that takes an extreme closer look at the smallest - and mightiest - of wildlife and nature. Happy Birthday to one cool cat! African lioness Sukari turned a milestone 20-years-old last week! The animal care and wellness teams were excited to celebrate her birthday with special treats and stimulating enrichment gifts presented in the newly expanded habitat she shares with her son, Jasiri.
