Animals to See When It Rains

Much needed rain is expected to hit the Bay Area in the next few weeks.  With rains coming, the Zoo is proud to showcase some animals in new homes that keep them (and their visitors) dry in inclement weather!  The next time you are at the Zoo, be sure to stop by and see our California tiger salamanders at the indoor California Conservation Corridor;  the northern spider tortoise at the interior "Tortoise Jewelbox" across from the mandrills; and the prehensile tailed porcupine inside the Lion House (next to the restrooms). Enjoy the rain!

SF Resident Free Day: November 9th

Our next San Francisco Resident Free Day is Wednesday, November 9th and is sponsored by Cruise. Cruise, a self-driving car service, will display two vehicles on-site showcasing the similarities between Cruise cars' "super senses" and the extraordinary sensory capacities of some of our Zoo animals!  Cruise will offer coloring book activities for kids from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We would also like to extend this Free Day to all veterans and active duty military to celebrate Veterans Day. Thank you, all!

Games and More at Komodo Karnival on November 12th

Save the date of Saturday, November 12, for our special "Komodo Karnival"!  During this kick-off event for “Tales of the Komodo Dragon” sponsored by First 5 California, you'll meet our new male Komodo dragon! Learn about First 5 California's Dragon campaign, which helps children manage their big emotions with the Dragon Song (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=1d6f182226&e=7683a9aed3) . Komodo Karnival will feature a variety of games and a climbing wall to enjoy from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. by Komodo Crossing. Save the date!
Orangutan Caring Week Begins November 13th

Join us for Orangutan Caring Week (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=909daecd70&e=7683a9aed3) , November 13-19, as we celebrate this truly amazing endangered Great ape species. This week is dedicated to encouraging people to care about saving orangutans and the people who save them.  Our two orangutans will be "hanging around" at Great Ape Passage to help you care and conserve their species.
Winter Zoo Camp
