New Garden Tours!

Enhance your enjoyment of our spectacular gardens and plant collections with our new Botanical Tour (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=625f457031&e=7683a9aed3) every Saturday at 10:30 a.m.! During a 60-minute tour with our botany experts, you'll learn about the beautiful, rare and threatened species and how they support the biodiversity of our animal residents.
Come See Our Prairie Pups

Our ten prairie pups emerged from their burrows and can now be seen enjoying the outside! Prairie dogs feed above ground during the day and use burrows for safety at night and for rearing families. The whole colony helps dig the elaborate underground tunnel system which consists of several chambers, including a nursery, a latrine, a grass-lined nesting chamber, and a listening post located near the surface where the inhabitants keep tabs on above-ground activities that might spell danger. Come and see these cute pups enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
Celebrate Cinco de Rhino on May 5

Next week, we're celebrating the five remaining rhino species during Cinco de Rhino! Visit our friends at the International Rhino Foundation (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=afb288245a&e=7683a9aed3) to join "Team Rhino" and learn about the critical work they are doing to protect rhinos in Africa, Indonesia and India. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

Earlier this week, we celebrated Pink Flamingo Day! There are six species of flamingo, all belonging to one of the oldest bird groups. Flamingos are very social when assembled in nesting areas, typically found in groups that are rarely fewer than 20 birds.  All flamingo species are vulnerable to habitat change and exploitation. Chilean flamingos, which we have here at the Zoo, are listed as near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN.)
