Hello Hoover Families,
Welcome to our last week of school before Winter Break. Oh, how this
semester has flown by!
TIME SENSITIVE [and EXCITING] ANNOUNCEMENT:
As the semester is coming to a close, I have an urgent request to ask:
Students have been working hard all semester, and will earn their “Class
Holiday Party” this coming Thursday, December 21st during math class. It
will be our first party this school year! In order for our party to be fun
and successful, I need your help!
I have mentioned to students that we will have food at this party. However,
that is only if families are able to help provide food! I will be
purchasing some snacks and utensils using my own monetary funds, but it
would be greatly appreciated if families could provide food (potluck
style), or money so that I can purchase food for students.
If you are providing food, please label the food (with any possible
allergens) and have your child bring it to school on Thursday, 12/21.
If you are providing money, please put cash in an envelope with your
child’s name and math class period. You can also provide money via Venmo
(QR code attached). If providing money via Venmo, please also submit the
payment with your child’s name and math class period. If you are providing
money, please donate by Wednesday, 12/20 at 4:00 PM so I know how much
money I have to purchase food for students.
THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance for your support and contributions. Providing
food and money for this party is completely optional. I hope our first
class party will be enjoyable for students!
If you do not want your child to participate in eating the food (due to
COVID, allergens, etc.) please notify your child prior to the party this
Thursday.
Other class news:
This week, we will be wrapping up Unit 6.3, which is on ratios and ratio
relationships. We will have our Milestone Test on Monday, and we will
finish Our Collective Cookbook Recipes project on Tuesday and Wednesday.
To prepare for the milestone test tomorrow, students are encouraged to
review or practice any concepts we have learned this unit via Unit 6.3 in Ms.

Grades are up to date!
Aside from inputting the optional DreamBox extra credit opportunity (10
lessons, due tonight by 11:59 PM), grades are up to date. We are at the end
of the Fall semester, meaning students will be receiving grades for both P2
and Fall on their upcoming report cards.
Students, log into StudentVue to check your grades at any time. If you need
your login information, email me at

Homework is posted on Google Classroom every Monday, and is due every
Friday. 15 Topics on ALEKS is to be completed every week. To check if your
child has any missing assignments, or to see how they performed on any
particular assignment, go to “Gradebook” and under “CCSS Math 6,” click on
“Fall.”
To confirm if your child has been completing their weekly ALEKS homework,
you can see what score they received out of 15. Their weekly ALEKS grade is
the number of topics they completed out of 15. If they receive a 0/15, it
means they are NOT completing any of their weekly ALEKS homework.
For the best chance of raising their grade before the end of the semester,
students are encouraged to make revisions to Milestone Tests (answer key
posted on Google Classroom). Students are also encouraged to turn in any
and all missing assignments. If students are turning in missing
assignments, they must submit them all by Wednesday, 12/20 at 2:15 PM for
grading.
Thank you!
