ZOO HIGHLIGHTS
Welcome to a new female giraffe!

We are excited to announce the arrival of a 13-year-old female giraffe! At 2,100 pounds and 16 feet tall, you can spot her on the African Savanna by her distinctive dark center ossicone and her striking thick white lines. She is a very thoughtful giraffe and interested in her enrichment, especially mirrors and wind chimes, and has already made leaps and bounds in her training. Come out and see her, along with Eve, Barbro, Sarah and Ingrid, soon!
Celebrate Super Bowl Sunday at SF Zoo

San Francisco Zoo & Gardens is the place to be before the big game on Sunday. Come and explore our beautiful urban oasis decked in your favorite NFL team's gear and get $1 off admission! Make sure to stop by the Leaping Lemur Café to enjoy a special menu featuring famous food items from Kansas City and Philadelphia including Hot Wings and Philly Cheesesteak Pizza. First 5 California to Visit

We are excited to welcome First 5 of California, a state agency supporting children’s health and wellness, to SF Zoo on February 17th and 18th. F5CA recently rolled out their newest children’s initiative, called “Dragon Breath (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=1946b2c51c&e=7683a9aed3) ,” which teaches kids to stop and take a deep breath if they feel stressed or anxious. Representatives from First 5 will be on-site to help promote this new initiative. Make sure to stop by the Playground to enjoy the activities that First 5 will set up there.

Last week, we celebrated the world’s largest living flightless bird, ostrich! Not only that, an ostrich’s eye is the largest eye of any land animal at almost two inches and the ostrich egg is the largest egg in the world.
