Join us for Sunset Fridays at SF Zoo, our new summer evening series taking place every Friday thru August 25th!  After the Zoo closes, from 5 to 7 p.m., groove to the sounds of live music, nosh on tasty food items and enjoy conservation-themed activities. Plus, bring family and friends to experience the Elinor Friend Playground, Sculpture Learning Plaza and Dentzel Carousel.

This Friday, July 14th, we'll be opening up the California Conservation Corridor for visits to see some of California's endangered amphibian and reptile species. Mark Your Calendars for Disney's Aladdin Event

Saturday, August 5th will be "A Whole Zoo World" as you will have a chance to win tickets to see BroadwaySF's newest production of Disney's musical ALADDIN at the Orpheum Theater on August 10th! Donate Your Old Phones to Benefit Gorillas on the Line

Our Gorillas on the Line (GOTL) collection campaign is now in full swing! GOTL works with ECO-CELL (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=c90b3a4141&e=7683a9aed3) , an electronics recycling company to tally and recycle old electronic devices, with a portion of the funds generated through the recycling of these devices going to the Association of Zoos and Aquarium’s Gorilla SAFE, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and Wildlife Conservation Society for support of on-ground protection of Grauer’s and cross river gorillas. You can donate your used cell phones, smart phones, iPads, iPods, tablets, Apple watches, adapters and chargers, MP3 players, handheld gaming devices and headphones in the specially designated collection bin located in the Membership Concierge Office! Arctic Sea Ice Day
Saturday, July 15th is Arctic Sea Ice Day. Our friends at Polar Bears International (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=4f8e7208ec&e=7683a9aed3) created this day to draw attention to the ice loss taking place in the Arctic, an ecosystem many species depend on across the circumpolar North. Sea ice is to the ocean as soil is to the forest: it supports the entire Arctic food chain. When ocean water gets cold enough to freeze, it expels salt, causing channels to form inside the ice. As sunlight filters through, algae grow within these channels, creating an underwater garden that forms the base of the food chain.

The key to saving sea ice is to move away from fossil fuels, the energy of the past that traps too much heat around our planet. Now is the moment to look for ways to use more energy that comes from the sun, wind, and water. As an Arctic Ambassador Center (AAC), we want you to join us and talk (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=0da702aa31&e=7683a9aed3) about climate change with your friends, family, community and civic leaders. A future that's good for polar bears is good for people too!
