Subject: Confirmation July 27 & Schedule Ahead

Hi, all -

There is a lot of information below. Please glance through all of it and let
me know of any questions/conflicts.

July 27 meeting
I'm hopeful that July 27 will work for all of us, but even if not, we will
go ahead and meet up. Please have your kids send their questions/answers
ahead of time if possible. Thanks to those who have already responded!

Frances volunteered to bring snacks. Is she still up for that? My
recollection is that none of the other 4 kids have dietary restrictions.
Please correct me if that is incorrect.

We also need another adult to join us. If no one is available, I could
probably recruit someone from the general congregation - folks are
interested in confirmation.

I forgot to send this intro to Taizé - one song from a Taizé service, with
photos of the worship space - here it is! Please watch it as a part of your
preparation for Thursday - what do you notice about this - what's
differrent, similar to other worship experiences you've been to? Also -
here's a link to places to find labyrinths in San Francisco (and you can
search if you're visiting other places).

This week we'll be discussing your questions, all of your work on the rest
of the Old Testament, trying out a couple of faith practices, and talking
about the future of Christ Church (vision). In our August session, we'll do
our final wrap-up on the old testament - summarizing themes, sharing some
significant stories, etc.

Future sessions / meetings. Please check your calendars through the end of
the year.

3. Here are our regular meeting dates through the rest of the year
(Thursdays, 4:30-6:30). Please let me know of any specific or ongoing
conflicts.
  *  July 27, 2023 (Old Testament)
  *  August 8, 2023 (Old Testament)
  * September 14, 2023 (Life of Jesus intro & public service)
  * October 12, 2023 (Life of Jesus & Reformation intro)
  * November 9, 2023 (Life of Jesus & Advent intro)
  * December 14, 2023 (Life of Jesus - Christmas special)
4. Special events through 2023. Let me know your availability -
  *  Sunday, September 10:
      + What: Gods Work Our Hands (GWOH) Sunday
      +  When & Where: CCL 10-1
      + Details: we will be kicking off 6 weeks of public service action and
         information on Sunday, September 10 (carries through October 22). We
         plan to do a public service event on that day, at Christ Church, and
         I hope that all of our students can join.
  * Saturday, September 30 - optional - if interested, sign up soon!
      + What: Volunteering at Food Bank (11 and older)
      + When and Where: Illinois SF Food Bank, 11-1:30.
      + Details: For those kids who are 11 or older, I'm giving you (kids
         and adults) the first chance to sign up for a day of volunteering at
         the Food Bank. We have a limited number of slots. It is at the
         Ilinois warehouse in San Francisco, 11-1:30. Please let me know if
         you're interested.
  *  2nd Sundays - Confirmation Sundays
      +  What: Help lead worship
      +  When and Where: 2nd Sundays, 9:30-11:30
      + Details: I'm hoping you can target having your kids in worship on
         the 2nd Sundays of each month. If that works out, and we confirm
         ahead of time, we can have the kids rotate through different roles
         in worship - lector, acolyte, liturgist (maybe shadowing an adult
         liturgist initially), etc.

Copying the homework:

To do until we meet again

in some way, and share with Pr. Janet before the next session. You can send
via email or set up a call/zoom session to talk about them. Let Pr. Janet if

Justice, therefore, represents the peace of God. This peace is freedom from
the violence that distorts the human person. It is the elimination, in other
words, of systems, constructs, and all actualities of violence. God's peace
thus requires a radical restructuring of a political, social, and economic
order that is sustained by and thus creates 'crucified classes of people.'
