ZOO HIGHLIGHTS
Protect Our Coast on World Oceans Day

Join us for an exhilarating beach clean-up day on Thursday, June 8th - World Oceans Day - you may even see migrating humpback whales which have been spotted in recent days by the Great Highway! As one of the only zoological parks situated right by an ocean, our unique tie to our coasts gives us all the more reason to raise awareness of how ocean debris and plastic pollution affects marine life and ocean ecosystems. If you're interested in our Ocean Beach clean-up on June 8th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, email GuestServices at sfzoo.org (mailto:GuestServices at sfzoo.org) .

Meet Ambassador Animals & More!

On your next weekend visit, be sure to check out our Summer Wildlife Weekend programs in the Wells Fargo Wildlife Theater! Now through Labor Day, come enjoy a full slate of educational and engaging live presentations focused on our endangered species and rescued animals. This includes a special story time session with a variety of animal stories, a fascinating biofact presentation featuring bones, skulls, feathers and more, followed by ambassador animals in an hour-long conservation themed presentation. The program runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Photo by May Woon)
Vote for SF Zoo for "Top Places to Take the Kids"

Last year, you voted us #1 in KidsOutandAbout.com's Top 20 Places to Take Kids in and around San Francisco (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=a7ff444491&e=7683a9aed3) , and we remain so grateful for your vote! Now, voting has commenced for the 2023 Best Places survey, and we'd love to go for two wins in a row! This year's survey is now underway and voting will end on Monday, June 19. Voters can choose their top three places to take kids via this link (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=33ea6362e4&e=7683a9aed3) . Thank you for your continued support!
Become a Zoo Docent!
You've no doubt seen our intrepid Zoo Docents out and about and all around the Zoo during your visit. These knowledgeable individuals are among our greatest assets as they share information about wildlife, wild places and fun facts about our animal residents. And for those of you interested in volunteering as a Zoo Docent, we are hosting a Docent Program Informational Event on Sunday, June 4 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the small classroom of the Lurie Education Building. The program includes a detailed presentation about the docent program followed by a complimentary Zoo tour and a hands-on demonstration on the use of our biofact cart (biological artifacts like skulls, bones and feathers). Enjoy light refreshments while connecting to others who share your passion for animals and our planet! Limited space is available. RSVP to docent at sfzoo.org (mailto:docent at sfzoo.org) .

Happening this Month!
It's Zoo & Aquarium Month!
June is National Zoo & Aquarium Month and while a trip to the Zoo is always a great chance to enjoy being outdoors with family, the spotlight for this month is on the role zoos and aquariums play beyond sharing wildlife with the public and providing care for exotic animals. Our industry plays an important and vital part in wildlife conservation, working together and cooperatively with other zoos to manage and sustain populations under human care, working directly in field conservation programs, conducting research and sharing knowledge. Zoos and aquariums educate all ages and bring awareness to the plight of wild places and wild things. And of course, zoos are fun, engaging and your visit is different every time!
