Join us for Wildlife Presentations & More!

Join us this weekend for our Summer Wildlife Weekend programs in the Wells Fargo Wildlife Theater! Now through Labor Day, come enjoy a full slate of educational and engaging live presentations focused on our endangered species and rescued animals. This includes a special story time session with a variety of animal stories, a fascinating biofact presentation featuring bones, skulls, feathers and more, followed by ambassador animals in a 30-minute conservation themed presentation. The presentations run from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday & Sunday!  And you won't want to miss the return of our Animal Keeper Chats and animal feedings. Father's Day BikeAbout

We still have slots available to take dear old dad out for a fun adventure around the Zoo on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18th! Our Father's Day BikeAbout is back, and this 60-minute guided tour is both exhilarating and enlightening! You'll learn fun animal facts, see animals during their morning routine and enjoy a tasty continental breakfast! Pre-registration is required and you must bring your own bicycle. New Podcast About Bears!
As an accredited member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), we participate in a wide range of Species Survival Plans (SSPs) and Taxon Advisory Groups (TAG) related to threatened and endangered species, maintaining healthy and sustainable populations of a diversity of species under human care, and working cooperatively with other accredited institutions to determine the conservation of various species groups. In support of the Bear TAG, we wanted to inform you of a new podcast called, "Bear in Mind" and hosted by members of the AZA's Bear TAG who will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the work they do in conservation, education and work with zoos, including here at SF Zoo! Bear in Mind debuts this week and is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. (Photo by May Woon)

World Oceans Month
The internationally recognized World Oceans Day took place this week, and as a zoological park with unique ties to the Pacific Ocean due to our close proximity, we are celebrating the entire month of June as World Oceans Month! Our partners at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently announced their "30 Days of Ocean (https://sfzoo.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=05b8326f4402b997fe7a097e3&id=f556d71168&e=7683a9aed3) " campaign, featuring informative infographics, videos and weekly themes highlighting everything from protecting coral reefs to conserving marine life, and we encourage you to visit their web site to understand and discover how the world's oceans touch all of our lives. Earth's vast oceans support hundreds of thousands of known species, and millions more not yet discovered. We can do our part to protect marine life by being vigilant about how you dispose of your trash, much of which leads to plastic pollution and ocean debris. Small steps lead to big changes.
