Support the Bayview Science Workshop
With the generous support of the Moore Foundation, we successfully launched the Bayview Science Workshop in January 2023, welcoming our first group of students there. Since then, we've had the privilege of reaching thousands of local students through school day field trips and after-school programs, in addition to hosting monthly open community days. Our gratitude for these partnerships is immense.

However, to sustain and continue offering our amazing programs, we rely on ongoing support from our community.

Bayview Science Workshop Student Highlight

Meet Jalil, an extraordinary student who embodies the reason we opened our new workshop in Bayview-Hunters Point. He has been a source of inspiration for our staff, exemplifying the passion that drives us in our work.

Jalil is a frequent visitor to the Bayview Science Workshop (BSW), stopping by almost every day. His curiosity shines as he inquires about our exhibits, animals, and bones. He's also keen on sharing his knowledge, often teaching his friends how to use the microscopes or the Van de Graaff generator. His mother shared with us that Jalil aspires to be a scientist, though he's also interested in professional football. They have attended every Saturday event this year, with Jalil spending entire days exploring and tinkering.

On one occasion, Jalil brought in the control panel from an old electronic device, eager to disassemble it and understand its workings. Weeks later, he's still curious about any new discoveries we've made about it. Jalil ignites curiosity and joy in learning -- he is not just an amazing young scientist but also a wonderful ambassador for our community.
Bayview Science Workshop : Charles Drew College Preparatory Academy
The success of the Bayview Science Workshop owes greatly to the incredible Charles Drew community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Principal Franklin, the dedicated teachers, staff, and Beacon team for their instrumental role in the success of our programs and open community days. Their collaborative efforts have enabled us to reach numerous schools in the area. We are deeply grateful for the generosity and organizational support our partners have provided, which has allowed us to connect with many families, schools, and students throughout the entire Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood.
Bayview Science Workshop Community Days
Our Community Days have been tremendously successful and a lot of fun. Families from Bayview-Hunters Point and surrounding areas have joined us on our Open Saturdays to explore, build, tinker, and enjoy lunch and snacks. These events are always free and open to everyone.
Bayview Science Workshop Offsites

We've conducted numerous offsite visits to schools and community organizations that faced challenges in reaching our workshop. One highlight was our 'Whale on Wheels' week at Bret Harte Elementary School, where we brought Gracie our gray whale skeleton to the school for an entire week.

Bret Harte has been an incredible partner, and we thoroughly enjoy bringing our programs to their eager students, supportive teachers, and outstanding principal. 'Whale Week' was a fantastic success and a lot of fun. Our students delved into topics such as comparative anatomy, evolution, and marine conservation, and asked so many thoughtful questions.
Please Donate Today to Keep the Bayview Science Workshop Alive
Our goal is to raise $50,000 this holiday season -- and we need your support to reach this goal. 100% of the donations will go to directly fund our free hands-on field trips and after school programs for the highest need schools in San Francisco. Your donation is tax deductible and can also be matched. ¡Gracias de corazón!
