** Happy Fall: Bursting with programs & events!
------------------------------------------------------------
Hope you are all having a wonderful fall! We have been very busy at our three workshops with hundreds of school day field trips, exciting after school programs, fun open community days, off-sites at partner schools, resuming our internship program and creating really cool new exhibits for everyone to enjoy!
Students at our Excelsior Workshop building hover-crafts during an after-school program.
Students at our Bayview Workshop holding our leopard gecko, Dr. Drew, during explore time.
** Circulatory System Week at Mission High
------------------------------------------------------------
We had an epic Circulatory System Week at Mission High School, where we saw several health & biology classes over the course of a week. We brought our walk-through giant Blood Vessel exhibit, as well as microscope stations, build-your-own circulatory system projects, dissected pig hearts, used stetho-microphones and more!
Mission High Students learning about the circulatory system through performing pig heart dissections, experiencing our Giant Blood Vessel exhibit, and more.
Students finding different cells and parts of the pulmonary artery using "scavenger hunt" cards.
** Fun times learning by doing
------------------------------------------------------------
Students making a "burrito battery" with activated charcoal to learn about energy conversions at our Excelsior Workshop.
Students learning about anatomy, muscles, and tendons by building their own hand models.
High school students building their own Newton Cradles at our Mission Workshop, after learning about Newton's Laws.
** So many Open Community Days to choose from!
------------------------------------------------------------
We've had wonderful Saturday Programs this fall, including our Second Saturday in October "Eclairs and Eclipses" to observe the solar eclipse; Excelsior Sunday Streets at our Excelsior Site; and very well attended Open Saturdays and Dr Charles Drew Community Days at our Bayview Science Workshop.
This Saturday October 28 is "Rocktober" at the Bayview Science Workshop! Check out the details in the flyer below for lots of fun halloween activities, rock climbing wall, cracking geodes, free "All good Pizza" and Hawaiian BBQ for all!
As you may know, we host three Community Saturdays per Month: every Second Saturday of the month at Mission, Third Saturday at Excelsior, and Fourth Saturday at Bayview from 10am-3pm; as well as Tinker Tuesdays (Excelsior) and Tinker Thursdays (Mission) every week from 3-5pm. Use our tools, materials and supplies to build anything from your imagination, experience our hands-on exhibits and live animals, and explore all of our collections. Always FREE and open to ALL.
Come visit us at any of the dates below, for free science fun for the whole family.
