Good evening (or Good morning)!

I hope you and your child had a great first day spending it with their
advisory class! It was great meeting my advisory students and learning
about them. It's fun to hear that I have some siblings of older students
I've had!

I want to take a moment to introduce myself before the official new year
begins. My name is Jennifer Estrella and I will be your 7th grade science
teacher for this year! This my 20th year as a teacher, but my 9th year at
Hoover Middle School. Prior to teaching middle school, I taught biology and
algebra for nine years at the high school level. Just like our families, my
own children are involved in extracurricular activities so I understand the
importance of our academics as well as having our students do what they
love outside of school (or at school)!

Just a brief request for my students - if you could please send them to
school with a folder that has pockets, pencil and/or pen (blue or black
preferred) and a fully charged chrome book that would be great. I only have
two loaner chrome books, and I have many chrome book chargers. If your
student does not have a functional chrome book, they can still take
notes/do work on paper or did it later at home.

I look forward to working with you all throughout the year. You and your
student will receive weekly emails from me (or every other week depending
on how busy we are during the unit), and I welcome any comments,
concerns and/or questions that you may have. I will always do my best to
reply when I am able to.

Have a great evening (or morning), and I looking forward to meeting my
students tomorrow (today) and on Wednesday. Oh, don't forget it is a block
day schedule! Meet with your advisory first before heading to your other
classes for the day.

Take care,

Mrs. Jennifer Estrella (she/her)
