Help Support the Fight Against Cancer at Sunset Fridays
Join us as we dedicate our August 23rd Sunset Fridays event to individuals affected by cancer and to supporting cancer research. As part of the event, meet representatives from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation who will be on hand to answer your questions, share information on how the public can help in the fight against cancer and offer complimentary giveaways.

With just two more exciting Sunset Fridays left, we hope you’ll join us at our after-hours event for the whole family with performances by blues band Red Licorice.

In addition to music, food and drinks, shop our retail booths, visit animals in the Exploration Zone and ride the historic Dentzel Carousel! Sunset Fridays is free to Zoo Members; non-member tickets are $12 ages 12 and over.

Big shout out to our sponsors – Coca-Cola, Henna Garden, Cutwater and Highlands 41 Wines.

California Biodiversity Day
California boasts more plants and animals than any other state, with more than 60% of its 3,500 plant species being endemic, meaning they are found nowhere else in the world. California is also a biodiversity hotspot, due to habitat loss, climate change and the effect invasive species have on native species.
California Biodiversity Day is celebrated each September 7th, part of California’s first Biodiversity Initiative “to safeguard the state’s natural heritage in response to the growing loss of biodiversity – the variety of all living things – across the state,” according to California Biodiversity Day (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/0e41fd4d77684d90abfda18fe10a1f22) . We encourage you to visit that site to learn about the California 30x30, an executive order to protect 30% of California’s lands and waters by 2030.

And visit SF Zoo on Saturday, September 7th to celebrate California Biodiversity Day with us! Be sure to stop by the Docent table to purchase your own Biodiversity Day button!
