We had a short reset for class today. I'm definitely still out of it from
COVID, so we didn't go into much depth.

We're planning to go to Mt. Cross for our retreat, and their available date
in October is: *October 4-6. Would this date work?*

We'll have a full class (in-person I hope) in February, and we'll go over
the homework from October (our last in-person meeting). Here's what it was:

Bible: the New Testament

   -

We’re going to start learning and thinking about what happened after
   Jesus died

   -

   Please read Manna & Mercy p. 60-77
   -

      What happened at Pentecost?
      -

      What happened after that?
      -

How did it relate to the rest of Manna and Mercy?
      -

I’d like you to read 1 thing from the Bible and 1 overview of a book of
   the Bible
   -

      Philippians (a very short book)
      -

You are reading this to get a sense of what the letters of Paul
are like, which constitute a lot of the rest of the New Testament
         -

What stands out to you in this book?
         -

      Overview of Acts from EntertheBible.org:
      https://enterthebible.org/courses/acts/lessons/summary-of-acts - note
that this website is run by Luther Seminary, one of our ELCA seminaries.
      -

What was interesting to you about the book of Acts, based on this
         overview?
         -

In session 8 (February), we’ll talk about Acts, the letters, and
   Revelation
   -

In session 9 (March), we’ll talk about the whole Bible. We’ll have a BIG
game, WITH small PRIZES. I’ll tell you more about that at our next meeting.

Faith inYour Life:

   -

Do you think your faith influences how you act at school, at home, or
   other places?
   -

If it does, give one or two examples
      -

If it doesn’t, talk briefly about why it doesn’t
      -

Think about the whole world. What are the important things going on? Why
   do you care about them?

Thanks.
Peace,
Janet

Justice, therefore, represents the peace of God. This peace is freedom from
the violence that distorts the human person. It is the elimination, in
other words, of systems, constructs, and all actualities of violence. God's
peace thus requires a radical restructuring of a political, social, and
economic order that is sustained by and thus creates 'crucified classes of
people.' *Kelly Brown Douglas, Stand Your Ground, p. 195*
