Please join us in honoring Women’s History Month as we highlight Dr. Biruté Galdikas.

Long before pictures of orphaned Orangutans in lands deforested to clear the way for palm oil plantations became common, wildlife conservationist Dr. Biruté Galdikas was interested in their preservation.  When she first received funding to travel to the wilds of Indonesian Borneo in 1971 to study Orangutans, many dismissed her research as impossible due to their elusive nature.  Today she is a world-renowned expert on orangutans and has traveled the world advocating for these amazing animals – including speaking at San Francisco Zoo!
San Francisco State University Career Fair
For another year, the DEAI team and HR teamed-up to participated in the San Francisco State University Career Fair held by the Career and Leadership Department. Showcasing current job openings, internships, and volunteer opportunities.

The Zoo booth garnered a lot of attention. With over 190 emails of interested students collected that day, we are already receiving emails back for summer opportunities. With their Part-Time Job Fair at the end of summer and employer visits starting in the fall, we are looking forward to expanding on our partnership with SFSU for future collaborations.

Join us for an extra-special BikeAbout on Mother’s Day and pedal your way through the Zoo before opening hours during a 60-minute riding tour! Tickets include a continental breakfast served immediately following the event. During this program, bike riders will learn what maternal care looks like throughout the animal kingdom.

Sunset Fridays tickets are now on sale!  Our summer after-hour series is returning for a second season with more animal connection experiences, new food programs, and more live bands.  VIP tents are also available for private seating that include food and drinks.  Sunset Fridays are free for members of the Zoo, only $12 for non-members, and free for children 11 and under.

Reminder: New Zoo Hours
Starting Sunday, March 10, we will be opening our doors at 10 am and closing at 5 pm, with the last entry into the Zoo at 4 pm.  We look forward to seeing you here as we welcome spring and the magnificent blooming of our gardens this season!
