If you have any questions regarding rules reach out to me' Directortechnical at equestrianvaulting.org One more rule change is taking affect as of 6/1/24. The EVUSA continues to refine our rules to make sure that our equine athletes are being taken care of as well as our human ones. This rule addresses Welfare issues that could happen in the competition arena. The last point is regarding how long a horse may be in side reins or draw reins while in the competition arena. I wanted to bring this to the attention of competition management and competitors alike, when you are creating or reviewing the Order of Go please make sure you are within these limits to avoid disqualification. If you have any question regarding EVUSA rules you can reach out to Kendel Edmunds at directortechnical at equestrianvaulting.org. Article 302 Welfare of the Horse (consequent articles will be renumbered) 1. Welfare of the Horse while in the competition arena a. During any performance due to an unforeseen event or circumstance the Judge at A may request an additional trot circle to determine if a horse is uneven/unlevel and/or unable to continue due to fitness, distress or injury. The horse must trot until the bell is rung to signal the performance may resume. b. Tripping - In the event a horse trips and touches the ground with the front knee(s) and/or nose, the horse may not continue for that go and is excused for the remainder of that class. c. Falling - In the event a horse falls and the shoulder and/or hip touch the ground, the horse may not continue for that go and is excused for the rest of the competition. d. Blood - In any event there is fresh blood or a wound is currently bleeding, the horse may not continue for that go and is excused for the remainder of the class. e. A horse may only be in side reins for the following lengths of time; 1 Squad, 2 Pas de Deux’s and 4 Individuals. If a horse is in side reins longer than the lengths of time listed, additional vaulters that entered for that go will be disqualified. "Draw Reins" Clarification EVUSA has approved the use of "draw reins" as defined in the FEI Rules for Vaulting Article 719.2.5 page 23 with an effective date of 2/1/24 BUT USEF has NOT implemented this rule to date. What this means is if a competition is both EVUSA and USEF recognized, USEF rules supersede, and this type of reins is NOT allowed to be used at the competition (even in warm up). Currently EVUSA-ONLY or unrecognized-only competitions may have this equipment in use. Lunge line attachment point For any FEI competition the lunge line may ONLY be attached to the inside bit ring, per the current FEI Rules for Vaulting Article 719.2.7. Currently, USEF/EVUSA rules do not address lunge line attachment; therefore, the lunge line may be attached in any manner, i.e. under the chin, over the pole, etc. New Team Freestyle Times/Triples: - 2*B and 3*A team freestyle is now 31/2 minutes, triples are allowed and there is no limitation on number of triples performed for either level. The FEI Guidelines urge that triples are not more than 1/3 of the time allowed for the freestyle. - 1* C and 1* Trot team freestyle is now 3 minutes, and triples are NOT allowed for either level, and will receive a 1 point deduction from Artistic if performed. -please reference the EVUSA rules Here FEI Rules & Guidelines Here Competition Results!
