Be a Part of 95 Years of Conservation!
Celebrate 95 years of the Zoo’s rich history with a weekend-long event that highlights the evolution of our mission to care, connect, and conserve. Take a walk-through history with our markers set up throughout the Zoo, detailing the defining eras of the Zoo’s existence. There is also live entertainment, crafts for the kids, and conservation activities for the entire family. The first 2000 visitors on June 8 and 9 receive a free giveaway item - a replica postcard from the early era of the Zoo's history.

All activities are included with regular admission tickets.
"The Great Migration" virtual reality experience - Coming June 1!
In the latest addition to the Zoo's virtual reality film experiences, witness how millions of free-roaming animals make their way through the peaks and perils of Africa's savannah terrain, from the Maasai Mara river in Kenya to the majestic landscape of Tanzania's Serengeti, in search for a better life across the animal kingdom.

The Zoo will continue to also show Gorilla Trek, the award-winning 360-degree film about the unique family dynamics that pit one silverback mountain gorilla against another for control of the gorilla family.

Located in the VR Zone of the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens, this virtual reality experience will literally change the way you view animal conservation. Tickets will be available at the experience and are separate from Zoo admission tickets.
Nature Trail is Back!
We are excited to announce the return of our popular Nature Trail program this summer. Nature Trail was founded in 1976. It is amongst the oldest zoo youth volunteer programs in the nation. It offers a unique hands-on opportunity for Bay Area adolescents who are interested in learning more about animals and the environment. Nature Trail will be open from June 28 to September 1, 2024.

Volunteering looks great on high school and college applications. Nature Trailers undergo a thorough three-day training session to learn animal facts, teaching methods, and safety protocols. Nature Trail volunteers develop skills in animal husbandry, teamwork, and public speaking. Nature Trail volunteers interact with over 50,000 Zoo visitors annually.

Many Nature Trail graduates go on to volunteer as Junior Zoologists. Some continue as paid Interns, Education Specialists, Animal Keepers, and Curators. Others go on to careers in science, education, and conservation. For everyone who participates in the program, it is an unforgettable experience.

Requirements:
1. Must be between the ages of 12 and 14.
2. Must commit to working one day a week (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) through Labor Day weekend. Volunteers will be allowed two weeks off for vacations.
3. Must attend all three training sessions from 10 am-4 pm on Saturdays, 6/8, 6/15, and 6/22. There is a $100 fee to cover uniform and material costs, due on the first day of training.

4. Must demonstrate a commitment to San Francisco Zoo & Garden’s core mission: Connecting people with wildlife, inspiring Caring for nature, and advancing Conservation action.

Please fill out this Google form to apply: https://forms.gle/omuejk2WBgZfWnWZ6 (https://forms.gle/omuejk2WBgZfWnWZ6 )
All applications must be received by May 31. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a Zoom interview. If you have any questions, email NatureTrail at sfzoo.org.
