# Dogpatch Paddle Expands Kayak, Paddle Board Programs at Mission Creek

After an eight-month closure, the Mission Creek Boathouse is back, now operated by Dogpatch Paddle and offering expanded kayak and paddleboard programs and new ways to explore the
Mission Bay waterfront (https://t.e2ma.net/click/063b0j/wfcl20hc/oxsr1u).

Under the new agreement, Dogpatch Paddle will offer kayak and paddle board rentals, lessons, tours, private events, youth programming and unique on-the-water experiences. Paddlers traveling between Dogpatch Paddle's Mission Creek Boathouse and its Crane Cove Park location will also soon have the option of a one-way paddle trip, timed with the tides to provide a smoother, safer route.

The expanded programming officially launched on Tuesday, with Dogpatch Paddle offering special kayak packages to watch San Francisco Giants home games from McCovey Cove--where fans might even catch a splash hit. With 18 home games remaining at Oracle Park this season, kayakers can reserve a spot for a one-of-a-kind game-day experience from the Bay.

In addition, the Mission Creek Boathouse will serve as a second site for Dogpatch Paddle's after-school and summer youth camps, giving kids of all skill levels the opportunity to explore the Bay, connect with nature, and build confidence on the water.

# A Summer to Remember in San Francisco's Parks

As summer wraps up, we're celebrating the season's highlights in our parks. Rec and Park offered 560 camp sessions over 11 fun-filled weeks, with 51 different types of programs to choose from. Nearly 7,800 camp spots served more than 4,000 individual youth. Additionally, our Summer Learn to Swim program was held at eight pool locations, helping more than 900 kids build confidence in the water.

To help make this summer happen, more than 1,200 youth received scholarships for camp and swim programs, including 935 who received full scholarships. In total, nearly $1.2 million in scholarships was awarded, helping more families access safe, active, and engaging summer opportunities.

We're grateful to our recreation staff and all who helped make this summer unforgettable for San Francisco's youth!

The San Francisco Arts Commission and Rec and Park
announced last month (https://t.e2ma.net/click/063b0j/wfcl20hc/88yr1u)
the successful culmination of a yearlong Artist-in-Residence Program at
India Basin Waterfront Park (https://t.e2ma.net/click/063b0j/wfcl20hc/o1zr1u).

Local artists
Afatasi the Artist (https://t.e2ma.net/click/063b0j/wfcl20hc/4t0r1u)
and
Conni McKenzie (https://t.e2ma.net/click/063b0j/wfcl20hc/km1r1u)

Afatasi the Artist will unveil her project at an event on Saturday, September 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. "Finders Keepers" is an interactive experience inviting BVHP residents to rediscover India Basin Waterfront Park (900 Innes Avenue) and the surrounding neighborhood in fresh, meaningful ways. It will start at

### Coyote Pupping Season in our Parks

As we hit the dog days of summer, it means that we're in the midst of coyote pupping season. While coyotes are generally wary of humans, parent coyotes may become territorial if you or your pet stumbles upon their den.

To foster a safe coexistence between yourself and our natural neighbors (https://t.e2ma.net/click/063b0j/wfcl20hc/41es1u), please take the following precautions:

  * Never feed coyotes or any wildlife
  * Keep dogs on leashes in our parks, unless in a designated off-leash dog play area
  * Only admire coyotes from a distance

If you encounter a coyote, slowly back away carrying any small children or pets. Do not run. You may also scare the coyote away by appearing large and making loud noises.

If you encounter a coyote or see someone putting out food for a coyote, report it to Animal Care and Control (ACC) at (415) 554-9400, or by email at noopener noreferrer (mailto:acc at sfgov.org).

For more information, visit ACC's coyote page at the link below.
