Dear Friend of San Francisco Zoo,

The nearly 1,500 animals that reside at SF Zoo depend on us to provide their nutritious daily diets, quality health care, and environments that support their wellbeing. From top-of-the-line, fresh produce and browse for giraffes to specialized diets for geriatric animals, animals requiring specific nutritional supplements and needs, and more, providing high-quality food is essential for keeping our animals healthy and thriving. Rising food costs mean that meeting these daily requires more support than ever.

Food alone is not enough. Enrichment−activities that encourage natural behaviors and keep animals physically and mentally engaged and stimulated−is vital to animal welfare. Providing our animals with enrichment devices like puzzle feeders and climbing structures is an ongoing investment as part of our enrichment program.
