Bring Your Sweetheart to Woo at the Zoo!
Come celebrate Valentine’s Day by getting the inside scoop on the mating and breeding behaviors of animals during “Woo at the Zoo,” an adults-only, fun and eye-opening event. Enjoy a multi-media presentation, champagne and brunch on Saturday, February 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Zoo’s Osher Great Hall.

The program offers a scientific look at some of the more remarkable facts, including animal reproduction, choosing mates and raising families. Topics range from how rhinoceros’ “foreplay” lasts for more than a month while mating occurs only once a year, to the engagement of “necking” during giraffe courtship, to how female opossums can get pregnant while they’re pregnant.

In addition to sharing information about the sex lives of animals, Woo at the Zoo illustrates how species maintain their populations and how SF Zoo assists in the reproductive process through its successful breeding programs. Attendees also receive Zoo admission and parking.

Woo at the Zoo is limited to guests, 21 years or older. Tickets are $65 for Zoo Members and $75 for non-members and includes parking and Zoo admission. Pre-advance purchases and reservations for Woo at the Zoo are required. For more information visit sfzoo.org (https://www.sfzoo.org/special-programs/) .

NEWS TO KNOW
Meet our New Pudu!
We recently welcomed “Flor,” a one-year, 8-month-old female Southern pudu born at Woodland Park Zoo, adding to our South American species here. Pudus are the smallest deer species in the world, with the Southern pudu slightly larger than Northern pudu, and native to temperate rainforests of South America. They are threatened in the wild by loss of habitat due to logging, agriculture, and poaching. Pudus are a bit shy and elusive, and can blend in well with their surroundings. They are mostly solitary, but males and females will come together during breeding season.

Come see Flor in her habitat across from the east side of the Lion House, she’s a beauty!
