At Outward Bound California, we believe the outdoors is a powerful teacher. The challenges we experience outside when coupled with time to reflect, and encouragement from our crew, we can grow into more compassionate and connected people. When our students are on granite peaks or high in the trees on the ropes course, they learn to trust themselves, collaborate and take calculated risks. These lessons stick with them long after the course ends.

In our 2024 Impact Report, you’ll journey alongside a father and son alumni duo as they reflect on their four expeditions combined. You’ll hear how Evelyn found her challenges on course to grow her as a person, and also develop connection with her community.

We’re especially proud to highlight our 14-year partnership with Mission High School. What started as day trips to Point Reyes has grown into weeklong expeditions in Joshua Tree - bringing transformative outdoor experiences to students who haven’t always had access to them.

Can you imagine a world where every young person has the chance to grow through challenges in the outdoors? We can.
