### TPC Harding Park 100th Anniversary Celebration on July 18

As
TPC Harding Park (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/0azy1t)
celebrates its 100th anniversary, the club has announced a centennial celebration for July 18, along with activations at the course throughout the year.

Named after U.S. President Warren Harding, an avid golfer, Harding Park Golf Course opened on July 18, 1925, along the shores of Lake Merced, California, in San Francisco's southwest corner. The only city-owned public course in the PGA TOUR's
TPC Network (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/g3zy1t), TPC Harding Park features 27 holes of championship golf and has a rich and storied history, including hosting the 2020 PGA Championship, won by Collin Morikawa, as well as the 2009 Presidents Cup, where the United States Team beat the International Team, 19.5 to 14.5.

TPC Harding Park is part of Rec and Park's legacy of accessible, high-quality public recreation. As a municipal facility, it serves both the local community and visitors from around the world. Through decades of memorable moments, Harding Park has crowned some of golf's greatest champions, including legends like Billy Casper, Byron Nelson, Gary Player, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.

At the centennial celebration on July 18, the first 200 golfers will receive a limited-edition centennial print by artist Lee Wybranski and a custom centennial challenge coin made from a storm-fallen cypress tree from Harding Park. All golfers playing that day will automatically be entered into 'closest to the pin' contests on each par-3 hole, with prizes awarded to the winners.
Golfers can book their tee time for July 18 at this link (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/wv0y1t).

### Coyote Pupping Season in our Parks

As we hit the dog days of summer, it means that we're in the midst of coyote pupping season. While coyotes are generally wary of humans, parent coyotes may become territorial if you or your pet stumbles upon their den.

To foster a safe coexistence between yourself and our natural neighbors (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/sk9y1t), please take the following precautions:

  * Never feed coyotes or any wildlife
  * Keep dogs on leashes in our parks, unless in a designated off-leash dog play area
  * Only admire coyotes from a distance

If you encounter a coyote, slowly back away carrying any small children or pets. Do not run. You may also scare the coyote away by appearing large and making loud noises.

If you encounter a coyote or see someone putting out food for a coyote, report it to Animal Care and Control (ACC) at (415) 554-9400, or by email at noopener noreferrer (mailto:acc at sfgov.org).

For more information, visit ACC's coyote page at the link below.

### Teen Creative Writing Summer Camp

Join our week-long summer camp for teens who love to write in San Francisco! The Summer Camp takes place at
SF Creative Writing Institute (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/wj7z1t)

Our methods are learning by doing. We teach budding writers to find their unique voice by trying out different styles in their writing, and following the artistic process to see where it leads.

We'll make a chapbook-style zine produced by the group and portfolios of their best work. There will be an optional reading on the mic and final showcase on the last day that friends and family can attend. This camp will be held at Harvey Milk Center for the Arts at

### Concrete Mecca: San Francisco's Skateboarding Legacy

Our
Video of the Week (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/cot01t)
comes from
SFGovTV (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/sgu01t)
and features their recent short documentary on the skateboarding history of San Francisco. It aims to capture its raw history, thriving present, and limitless future, giving both skaters and non-skaters an appreciation for how our city helped shape global skateboarding culture.

The video features a number of our parks, including historic spots such as
Embarcadero Plaza (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/88u01t)
and
Union Square (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/o1v01t), as well as
Potrero del Sol Skatepark (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/4tw01t)
and the new
UN Skate Plaza (https://t.e2ma.net/click/8s2vuj/wfcl20hc/kmx01t). It also highlights our Shred and Butter skate program, which brings San Francisco's skate culture to the next generation of city skaters. For more information, visit our skate parkd page at the link below.
