Across California and the country, youth are facing a mental health crisis. They’re more anxious, isolated, and disconnected than ever before.
* 40% of high school students report persistent sadness or hopelessness
* Only 25% get enough daily physical activity
* The number of youth diagnosed with mental or behavioral health conditions has risen 35% in recent years

At Outward Bound California, we know the outdoors can transform. When students replace screen time with “green time”, they reconnect – laughing with new friends on the trail, climbing higher than they thought possible, and discovering confidence that lasts a lifetime.

More than 50% of OBCA students receive a scholarship, helping to support youth from underserved areas, ensuring that every young person, regardless of background or a family’s ability to pay, can experience the transformative power of nature.
