I would like help with a project I'm required to do during eighth grade.

Hi Robin,

Thank you for your follow up regarding Kai’s mentoring needs for their project, this helps greatly. You are correct, we do not offer any weekend supports, but I have looked into Lizzy’s Tuesday afternoon availability.

As of now, Lizzy’s Tuesday afternoons are fully booked until late-November. That being said, Kai could come for a 2:30pm session on Tuesdays once that time slot opens up for them?

Here is a proposed schedule that might work:

  1. Tuesday, November 25th 2:30-3:20pm
  2. Tuesday, December 16th 2:30-3:20pm
  3. Tuesday, January 6th 2:30-3:20pm
  4. Tuesday, January 20th 2:30-3:20pm
  5. Tuesday, February 3rd 2:30-3:20pm

Please let me know what you think of this proposed schedule for a 5-pack of tutoring sessions with Lizzy. If this works, I can go ahead and get the paperwork sent over and the sessions on the schedule as soon as possible to ensure that they are reserved for Kai.

Thank you!

The actual requirement (I just found out) is that Kai meet with their mentor 3 times between now and February. I believe a 5 pack will be fine but Kai might disagree with me.

The thing I'm more concerned about is timing; Kai wants to do this in person but is in school full time, and I don't think Fusion has any support for meeting on the weekends. Kai's early day is Tuesday, when they get out at 1:05pm, the rest of the week they get out at 3:15 and I can't see them getting anything useful done if they come after that. Thoughts?

Good morning, Robin,

I’ve added Taylor to this thread, so she can share Lizzy’s availability and TM bundle information. Is Kai's preference virtual or in person? Will a10 session TM bundle be sufficient?

Best,

Aya

Yeah, apparently that's fine. So how would that work?

OK. I don't know if Kai's school allows paid mentoring for this purpose, I'll ask.

Hello!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, first week of school always has a little bit of settling in!
I really am happy that Kai wants to work on this project, I just don’t have the availability to mentor them outside of Fusion. There is room in my Fusion schedule, just not so much outside of my working hours. I have other projects I have committed to and need to prioritize. I hope you and Kai understand!

Best,

Just to be clear, Kai was asking you as an adult they feel close to
and who knows this subject, not as a Fusion teacher. They just
didn't have any other way to contact you.

If the only way to make this work is for us to treat you as a Fusion
teacher for this purpose, then that's fine, we can do that, but I
just wanted to make clear that that wasn't the nature of the
request. I'd definitely prefer to get some other contact info and
continue this discussion outside of Fusion.

> Hi, Lizzie. I'm writing this because I was wondering if I could ask with your help for something that's part of my eighth grade curriculum at my new school. There's a thing called the eighth-grade project at the school I'm going to next year, and the teachers there have agreed that it's ok for me to work on the animatic I'd started before, but part of the project includes me needing a mentor, and you're the only person I can think of who can help me in that regard. It won't take a lot on your part, just an hour a week at a designated time and place that we can discuss.
