# Alemany Farm Hosts Fall Urban Ag Day for SFUSD Youth
Last week, Rec and Park hosted Urban Ag Day at Alemany Farm, where nearly 150 students from four San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) schools explored farm life. Students met animals, honeybees, and local wildlife; made butter; discovered herbs and spices; planted garlic; and tasted locally grown and fermented foods. They also participated in nature and sustainability activities, creating leaf rubbings and paper seed helicopters; taking part in a floral scavenger hunt; and learning about composting, soil health, and invasive plant removal.
A special thanks to the San Francisco Environment Department, whose partnership made this event possible, along with Friends of Alemany Farm, Randall Museum, AIM Farmers Markets, San Francisco Beekeepers Association, San Francisco Children and Nature, UC Master Food Preservers, and others. Learn more about our Urban Agriculture Program at the link below.

# Removal of Transition Tower Adjacent to India Basin Shoreline Park Begins
We're excited to share that removal of the transition tower at 5000 Hunters Point Boulevard, next to India Basin Shoreline Park (IBSP), began earlier this week. This tower has long stood between IBSP and the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood. Its removal will make way for a more connected and accessible India Basin Waterfront Park. The removal is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
Thank you to PG&E for leading this project and helping us move closer to completing San Francisco's next great park. Hear more about the significance of this project to the community from KCBS at the link below.
