Coming Soon! ZooFest 2025: Silverback Soirée
https://www.sfzoo.org/zoofest-2025/
Support SF Zoo by joining us at one of San Francisco’s most anticipated and unique events! Tickets are still available for ZooFest 2025: Silverback Soirée, our annual gala fundraising event.
ZooFest 2025 takes place on Saturday, October 18, 2025. This year’s theme celebrates the arrival of our new male silverback, Cecil, who recently joined our troop of Western lowland gorillas at the Jones Family Gorilla Preserve.
Guests will enjoy a special 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception at the Osher Great Hall where they can meet ambassador animals up close and personal from the Zoo’s Animal Rescue & Conservation Center (ARC). Dinner and dancing follow in the vibrantly decorated Big Tent, catered by McCalls and live music performed by Pure Ecstasy.
Guests can also bid on a host of items and experiences during the Live Auction, including two suite tickets to a Golden State Warriors home game this season, a signed Jonathan Kuminga jersey, and two First Class seats on Alaska Airlines. Guests can also participate in our silent auction, featuring unique items such as animal art painted by animals from wolverines to giraffes!
ZooFest 2025’s co-chairs are Kerry Deichen and Janie Friend. The event honors Dr. Gloria Hing, San Francisco Zoological Society Emeritus Board Member, long-time donor, and community leader.

Support Rhino Conservation
https://givebutter.com/zRPh3N
With Halloween around the corner, the American Association of Zoo Keepers San Francisco invites you to "Boo-ling" (bowling!) for Rhinos (BFR), on Sunday, October 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Presidio Bowl in San Francisco.
This ticketed event raises funds to support rhino and habitat conservation efforts with proceeds benefiting International Rhino Foundation, LEWA Wildlife Conservancy and Action for Cheetahs in Kenya, which shares a portion of its land mass with LEWA. Sanctuaries like these not only save rhinos (and cheetahs), but entire ecosystems.
Tickets can be purchased via thislink (https://givebutter.com/zRPh3N) . The evening includes pizza, soft drinks, a silent auction, a Spooktacular costume contest, and of course, bowling! Children under 12 are free with a paid adult admission.
Come help AAZKSF strike out extinction.
NEWS TO KNOW
Refreshed and Rejuvenated!
https://www.sfzoo.org/renew-the-zoo/
Recently, we hosted a community clean-up morning as part of our Renew the Zoo (https://www.sfzoo.org/renew-the-zoo/) program. Renew the Zoo is a volunteer beautification program that enlists adults and children to help us with weeding, clearing debris and planting.
What made this latest Renew the Zoo so special was that instead of focusing on the interior of the Zoo, we took the program outside, to the perimeter of the Zoo! As a destination that is so close to the Pacific Ocean, the wear and tear from the salt and sea air can sometimes affect our landscape and sidewalks. Thanks to nearly 50 volunteers, who were given gloves and tools to work with, we made great headway in making your Zoo presentable to our guests.
Thanks so much to our staff and volunteers, great job! If you're interested in participating in our next Renew the Zoo project on Saturday November 8, 2025, or if you're a company that wants to volunteer your team for a team building experience, email RenewtheZoo at sfzoo.org (mailto:Renewthezoo at sfzoo.org) .
