As a valued Autosomal Transfer customer, we want to give you an early heads-up about an upcoming change to our Autosomal Unlock program and what it means for you.

** Our autosomal test, Family Finder^®, moved to a new Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform.
------------------------------------------------------------

NGS generates significantly more autosomal data than the chip technology behind most autosomal DNA transfers and is the foundation for everything we are building next.

Because uploaded DNA files cannot support these new capabilities, we will be retiring our Autosomal Unlock program on August 18, 2026.

** What this means for you
------------------------------------------------------------
* Transferring your autosomal DNA to FamilyTreeDNA remains free, and all current transfer features, including your DNA matches, remain available exactly as they are today.
* The Autosomal Unlock ($19) will no longer be available for purchase starting August 18, 2026.

If you were considering purchasing the Autosomal Unlock before then, we recommend waiting. A new option is coming that will serve you much better.

** A better upgrade is on the way

On August 18, 2026, we will be launching the Autosomal Transfer to Family Finder Upgrade—a full NGS result generated from your DNA.

This upgrade provides stronger matches, more detailed results, and automatic access to exclusive Discover™ reports as they are released.

If you’ve never submitted a physical DNA sample to FamilyTreeDNA, you will need to complete a cheek swab as part of the process. A DNA collection kit will automatically be shipped to you when you place your order. Shipping fees apply.

We will be in touch with more details and a link to purchase when the upgrade is available on August 18.
