Can anyone recommend a place (aside from an Apple
Store) to replace the screen on my iPhone 3GS? Knowing
I'll likely replace it in the next 6-12 months, I don't
want to pay the $100 Apple charges. Thanks!

Does anyone know the address of the person running the
premie closet? I need to return clothes and lost the
address - and have no luck getting in touch with the
person manning the email address for the premie closet.
These clothes have been staring at me for a while and
I'm either going to be able to return them now, or they
will end up in my storage! I can't have them in my
kitchen anymore! Thanks!

A friend will be in cancer treatment, and I'm
researching ways to organize the support. If you have
used a web-based community program I'd love to hear
about it, and why you did or didn't like it. Many
thanks, Carla H.

9. How to deal with Daylight Savings Time?

cat_shattuck - 10/11/2011 11:00 am
Hi there, hoping to hear from some of you who have been
through this before. How do you (or do you) prepare
your babies who are very used to sleeping through the
night and on a good nap schedule for Daylight Savings
Time? I have visions of suddenly sending them to bed at
5 pm and waking up ourselves at 5 am and that sounds
pretty awful. Any hints welcome.

Another mom posted this a couple of years ago and I
found it really helpful. This year the time change is
Sun Nov 6th so you should start adjusting on Tues Nov
1st. Helping Your Infant/Toddler Adjust to the "Fall
Back" Time Change With the time change approaching, I
have received many e-mails and phone calls from parents
asking how they can help their infants and toddlers
transition to the new time without upsetting their
child's sleep. Starting Sunday November 1st, clocks
will be set back one hour, "fall back," and we can
count on darkness at approximately5pm, and morning
light at approximately6am. You can help your
infant/toddler by starting to adjust their internal
clocks/circadian rhythms ahead of the time change on
November 1st. Starting next Monday orTuesday night,
begin to put your infant or toddler down 10 minutes
later for bed. You can do this by comforting, singing
or book reading, and/or starting the bedtime
ritual/routine 10 minutes later. Do this for the rest
of the week, so when the time change does happen, your
infant or toddler will have slowly adjusted to the new
time. If your infant/toddler's bedtime is 7pm, it will
look like this: Tues 7:10pm bedtime Wed. 7:20pm bedtime
Thurs. 7:30pm bedtime Fri. 7:40pm bedtime Sat. 7:50pm
bedtime Sun. 7pm bedtime (new time- old time will be
8pm) You may notice that your baby/toddler may start
yawning at 5 or 6pm. Alternatively, you may notice that
your baby is waking up earlier, at 6am or earlier. You
can take the time to darken up your baby/toddler's room
with darkening drapes, or shades, to help them to sleep
a little later. Also, you can take this time to make
some schedule/routine adjustments, for example if your
baby is a "night owl," you may decide to keep their
bedtime the same without using the 10 minute times
adjustment. So, if your baby goes to bed at 8pm, their
new bedtime will be 7pm. It takes about a week for your
infant/toddler to adjust to the new time. Your little
one may be a bit cranky, or seem more tired then usual.
Stick to your routine, and keep the day time naps the
same time.

15. early morning wake ups
--------------------------------------------------------
CarinSF - 10/11/2011 6:14 am
My almost 5 month old twins are decent sleepers. We
did the sleepeasy solution method at four months and
they go right to sleep at night without any fuss or
complaint. They go down for naps in just a few minutes
as well (usually). However, they have a consistant
problem of early waking! They will go to sleep at 6:30
pm, have a dreamfeed at 10:00, then wake up any time
between 4:00 and 5:00 am and not be able to soothe
themselves back to sleep. I will go in and change
their diapers (I no longer offer a bottle as they are
not hungry and won't really drink one if offered) and
soothe them briefly before putting them back in the
crib. Then they wiggle and squirm until they work
themselves into a full on frenzy. Screams, sobs,
hysterics. When I do the check-in intervals they smile
and giggle when I come in and reach to hold my hand.
But when I turn the light out and leave they launch
right back into the hysterics as though they were being
brutally murdered. This cannot go on! How do I make
these early wakings stop? They also wake themselves up
after extremely short naps...like 30 minutes or so.
This is wearing me down. Any advice would be gratefully
received.

The short naps are totally normal. My now 7 month old
has just started sleeping 2 longer naps + 1 shorter nap
per day. With my twins, we have them nap in separate
rooms. White noise helps too. A couple of tips on
the overnights - 1) overnight diapers. I won't change
the baby now even if he pooped until the morning 2)
and most important - if you can - stop going in the
room (and don't feel bad about it). They figure it out
really quickly.

With my boy-girl twins, our son was totally night-dry
at 3 and it took our daughter until 5 to be totally
night-dry. (She still has an accident every 6-8
months; he's never had one.) Night dryness, unlike day
dryness, isn't exactly within their control-- it's an
intersection of their body producing enough of a
chemical needed to slow down pee production at night,
how deep a sleeper they are, and a few other things.
Assuming you're reducing fluids an hour before bed,
etc., there's actually not very much you can do. We
ended up with a Mommy Sanity Rule that you had to be
night-dry for 10 days in a row before I'd let you try
it without pullups, and then if you had more than 2
accidents in a week they went back on and the clock
started over again. She didn't like it, but waking up
soaking wet and more tired from the act of getting
everyone set at 2 am wasn't any more fun, and the rule
applied to all kids equally. Unlike day dryness, which
is something they can be responsible for to a greater
degree, I'd suggest making a rule that gives you kid a
chance to succeed but also allows it to be ok for him
just to be a later dry-at-night kid without all of you
doing 14 pounds of laundry all week long in a state of
endless fatigue. Good luck-- we were in diapers for
years with 3 in 25 months and I promise it ends
eventually. Now if they could only remember to
flush...HilaryNicholas and Eva 8/27/05Theo 11/2/07

bagels. We'll try to make it social too. Other items
I've got include extra monitor. Good to have if they
nap in separate rooms, Tons of blankets and swaddles,
bottle warmer, wipe warmer, Dr. Brown bottles, unopened
boxes of nursing pads and lanisoh breast milk bags
(bought way too many), extra car seat for free. It's
got 1 year left before the 6 year mark.
