JJTwins - 11/30/2011 3:32 pm
I've been quoted from $25/hr to $45/hr. Is this the
normal range for anyone who's had a post partum doula
for twins?

We're actively searching for a daytime nanny and not
sure where to look aside from this website. Has anyone
found a nanny through an agency? Which did you use and
what was your experience? Thanks so much for your
help! We're a little lost!

We use Care.com. You can subscribe for 3 months for
$60 and view profiles, background checks, and
recommendations for all the nannies using the service.
You can post a job, and sort through the applications,
or you can just search for nannies in your area and
contact the ones that you like. We found 2 nannies and
4 babysitters in two different cities using Care.com -
All excellent. Good luck!

4. Ideas for Santa activities in SF?
--------------------------------------------------------
nodelmonkey - 11/30/2011 9:14 am
I am looking for something fun to do with my six month
old girls in regards to Santa. Photos at the mall or
dept store are one obvious option but I also found this
old post (from 2008) of other things to do in the city
and am wondering if anyone knows of a more updated
(2011) list or has heard of one off ideas that might be
interesting? For ex., the Santa story time zoo event
posted here looked perfect but they don't appear to
have that anymore according to the zoo website. Maybe
other events listed here are still current but I'd be
interested to find out if anyone has done them
recently?

Santa will be coming to the Haas-Lilienthal House
(Victorian house museum in Pac Hts.) during their open
house this Sunday, 12-3 p.m. Santa usually comes
around 2, and mixes and mingles with the guests, and
usually sits in a chair near the beautiful 13-ft
Christmas tree for pictures.More info on the event
here: www.sfheritage.org or you can feel free to
contact me (I worked there for years.) Maybe we'll
see you there! Cheers~

Hi,I just wanted to let you know, you are not alone.
Our 9.5mo boy/girl twins are so jealous of each other.
If I pick up one the other one starts to scream. I
have no good suggestons for you... Hopefully, some one
else can chime in on that...I have the same issue with
the crib, as well. For the crib, I take one out and
put them on the floor to move around and then the other
I take out of the crib to change. Then, I switch to
change the other one. That seem to eliminate the
crying for that. Wendy

When my fraternal girls were about 8-8.5 months
adjusted they went through two weeks of constant
crying, crankiness, and boredom. They would play with a
toy for maybe a minute before flinging it aside in a
fit of sobbing. I could not make them happy. It was
developmental and reading the Wonder Weeks really
helped me. That said, my babies are not terribly
jealous of each other and once they passed through that
developmental phase they went back to being normal
happy giggling babies most of the time. Perhaps yours
have a different temperament, on top of which they're
passing through developmental changes.

Thank you for posting this. We still deal with
jealously about who gets picked up, nursed, etc. It
wears on me because there's hysteria if one gets a
cracker first (seconds) before the other one there is
screaming, etc. BTW- 9-12 mo. was by far the most
difficult age with my identical boys (now 14 mo.). Hang
in there. I really hope it gets better for you soon
too.I have found that carving out time to be alone with
one of them while my mom or husband takes the other
helps the most. it's amazing to see how mellow and
quiet they are when they have one-on-one adult time or
'mommy and me' time. They actually take more focused
alone time, too. I'm sure they are enjoying not being
interrupted by the other one grabbing a toy, crying,
etc. The mellow usually lasts a little while after they
are together, too. The problem is, I have to choose
between taking time for myself or doing one-on-one
time. Not enough of either. Reading everyone else's
responses helps me, too. Keep the postings going!! Best
of luck, -Darca

Yes, you're definitely not alone! I have had my fill
of crying, that's for sure (my identical boys are 2.5
now), but it does ebb and flow. I found for us the best
thing was to get outside - go for walks, playgrounds,
rolling around on a blanket/grass at that age, etc.
Everyone seemed happiest out of the stir-crazy house it
seemed. Not possible to do all the time but if you
have it built in to look forward to at least you can
get some quiet-ish time and some fresh air. One-on-one
time is great too; I do firmly believe that their is a
twin-energy-vortex that exists when both are together
and in good/normal spirits (e.g. not sick) and it's
incredible what that single baby is like alone...but
alas, we have to figure out ways to manage with
twins!My vote - head outdoors 2x/day.Kristen
