2. Preschool Potty Questions

My 3 year old started preschool last week, and won't
go to the bathroom at school. He's had two accidents
there when he the dam finally breaks because he doesn't
want to use the potties. He's been fully daytime potty
trained for at least 6 months, and has no problem going
in public toilets.I think part of the issue is he's
afraid of making a mess holding his own penis while
urinating, but he's been practicing at home, both
standing up and sitting down. He likes aiming at a
Cheerio when he stands up, so that's also helped, but
he won't try it at school. They're all kids-sized
toilets there. How have others overcome this issue? The
other issue, is, when the dam breaks, inevitably, some
urine gets on his shoes so how do you clean a shoe that
is suede? Thanks for any helpful tips and advice!

It might be worth putting a pullup on him until he is
ready to use the toilets. My son wore diapers at 3.5
years when he started preschool, but NEVER went at
school and held it until he got home. Luckily he was
only in school for half a day!! But eventually, when
he was ready, he started using the toilets there, so we
took off his diaper. He was fine with the diaper.
Unless your school doesn't allow diapers...oh, then I'm
not sure. Good luck! He'll get there!Susanmom to Sean

I would try to talk to the preschool teachers and have
them encourage your son to go if they haven't done so
before. The teacher can go with him and make sure he
uses good position for aiming. Is it that he made a
mess once and it was a problem or is he just worried in
advance? I think teacher involvement would be the
key.Sorry, you have this problem! Not sure how to clean
the shoes :(
