The prior discussions I found on this forum dealing
with cloth diapering and diaper services were about a
year old, so I just wanted to throw it out there again.
It sounds like Tiny Tots diaper service is the way to
go with cloth diaper services, and Earth Baby for
compostable service. Are there other new services or
options out there?I am currently working really hard to
convince my husband that it is NOT completely crazy to
use non-disposables for our twin girls due this spring.
Any advice or opinions regarding the cost/ease of use
differences among cloth or compostable diaper services,
or just laundering our own? I want this to sound as
low-impact as possible to hubby so I can avoid filling
up landfills with plastic diapers!Thanks for your

With the number of diapers we needed, and the enormous
amount of garbage we would have accrued in just one
week (with no room for regular house garbage!) we went
with Tiny Tots and found it the best and easiest
thing!! Put the dirty bag on your porch and the next
thing you know, you have a clean new bag! Really easy.
When I did the math about 6 years ago, the cloth were
cheaper than buying disposables.I'm sorry I don't know

In your situation I would recommend Tiny Tots for sure.
We use Bum Genius (washing outselves) and it is a lot
of work and a lot of laundry. (That said, I'm glad
we're doing it this way and not disposable, but Tiny
Tots doesn't service our area.) I mostly want to
comment that I've heard G-Diaper compostables are not
nearly as great as they seem. You have to rip open the
interior and pour it into the toilet, swirl it around
and then flush. When you have a blow out poo, this
would be a pretty disgusting process. Your husband
would probably be much more on board with the Tiny Tots
routine that Susan describes above. Also, we use
Nature BabyCare compostables at night (2-year olds are
heavy wetters and the cloth leak over night) and then
we throw them away in a biodegradable bag. This works
very well for us, but I wouldn't want to do it 24-hours
a day. Your garbage would fill up, and I'm not
entirely convinced that they compost very quickly at
all. I think you'd still be land filling for at least
a decade. Good luck!
