This message is targeted more at the people who live in
Marin, of course :-)My good friends who own the
Standard 5 & 10 in Laurel Village are celebrating the
grand opening of their new store in Marin this weekend.
There will be a raffle and giveaways all weekend.
They have an email flyer for coupon specials, but I'm
unable to attach it. You can go to their web site,
www.MarinAce.com and print out a copy. The store is
located in San Rafael, just across 101 from the Civic
Center.

2. Fun studies for babies and children 4mo-6yr at UC Berkeley
--------------------------------------------------------
nataliasha2004 - 2/9/2012 4:42 pm
We've participated in these a couple of times, and
they've been really fun and interesting - and everyone
there is great. They make it all really easy &
pleasant (& will play w/ one child while you're in with
the other doing whatever the activity is for that
study. The studies usually take less time than filling
out the forms! Here's all the info to sign up, and
then they contact you when they have something
appropriate for your age group:The Infant Cognition and
Language Lab at the University of California, Berkeley
has fun and engaging research studies for infants and
children 4 months old to 6 years old exploring how
babies and young children understand the world around
them and learn language. Our lab invites you and your
child(ren) to visit us on the UC Berkeley campus to
participate in one of our short and fun studies.Your
child will receive their UC Berkeley "diploma" and a
prize for participating. Appointments are held at our
lab and typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour. Free
parking is provided. We are open Monday through Friday,
9:00am‐5:00pm, and one Saturday each month. We look
forward to meeting you and your child(ren) soon!Call,
email, or sign up online to participate:(510)

4. Love/Hate Your Double Stroller? Looking For Advice.
--------------------------------------------------------
ksilverstein - 2/9/2012 9:39 am
I'm starting the search for a double stroller (other
than the Snap & Go) for my 12-week old twins. I was
hoping to hear your thoughts on what you like/dislike
about your own strollers. For instance, is it hard to
reach the basket on the City Mini? Do kids wind up
kicking each other in the face and/or back with the
City Select? Is it possible for one person to lift the
Bob jogger into the back of a car? Any advice is
appreciated!

we have city mini. basket on the bottom is indeed hard
to deal with. other than that, we have been happy with
it and would recommend it.

My twins are not yet born, but we bought the Bumbleride
Indie Twin on the recommendation of another set of twin
parents. I've only tested it out with bags of flour
(!) but handles great, fits through doors, and I love
the bassinet attachments.

Loved/Hated our BOB double jogging stroller. it really
ran great, it was nice for strolling and/or jogging,
but it was heavy, didn't break down too far, so it was
HARD to put into the car...if you want a jogging
stroller, than I thought it was worth the pain of
getting it into the trunk...but it was always a tight
squeeze, heavy and large.

We have the Mountain buggy DUET and we absolutely love
it. It is narrower than any other double stroller and
it comes with bassinetts for the first six months
(which are so much better than the car seats), car seat
adapters and the regular seats for later. It has a
pretty big basket underneath and it is easy to push on
any terrain. The frame is easy to fold and I have no
problems with loading it into the car trunk, though it
is obviously not to light. I absolutely can recommend
this stroller!

Do any of the double strollers fit in the trunk of a
regular sedan (Nissan Altima)? We have the double snap
n go but need to get the next stroller asap. I've been
putting it off because I'm afraid we will need to buy a
new car first!

I don't know about the newer models. We inherited an
older dutelier and it really was not useful, as I
couldn't fit with both babies. So, i suggest trying it
out in person to see if it might work for you. Other
companies that sell gliders include pottery barn,
serena and lily among others. if you have time and
energy, test them out and see what you like!

Chris Yerke/Restoration Workshop is amazing, in both
design and execution. He's local, super green, and an
amazing craftsman (& of course, a licensed
contractor.)You might also check with SF Architectural
Heritage (plus you might be able to find out some
interesting history on your house, if you're
interested). Give them a call 441.3000 or check their
website - I'm pretty sure they have a list of
recommended craftspeople available.
