1. Second year of preschool: how many days?
--------------------------------------------------------
kdrichman - 2/13/2012 8:57 pm
Our 3 yr old girls are so far loving their first year
of preschool on a MWF 8:30-12:30 schedule. We are
trying to figure out whether to keep this schedule next
year or bump them up to 5 days a week. Downside of 5
days a week is that our wonderful PT nanny would likely
have to look for another job as she can't really do
with less hours than she's currently getting. Up side
is they really like school and it prepares them for
pre-K the following year. Wondering what other parents
who started their kids on 3 days a week did during the
second year of preschool (kids turning 4). Any input is
much appreciated!Kimmom of Emily and Layla

OxiClean. We used it in the early days for spit up
stains, and now for dirt, grass, berry... you name it.

If it's breast milk, sunlight always does the trick
(for spit up and poop stains). I'm not sure if it also
works for for formula or solids. Good luck!

I second the oxyclean. I also use shout (I keep the
spray near where I change the clothes and squirt
stains). I also use the Kirkland Free laundry detergent
for all clothes (too much effort to do babies
separate...besides we're always holding them next to
our clothes right?). Everybody's skin seems fine.

We used this one. It stood up to two babies hanging off
of it fairly well and was easy to take down at night
when they went to

We've used this one and have never had a problem. We
like the metal and vertical bars so babies can't climb
out. And THEY WILL start climbing before you know it!

We really like our metal KidCo safety gate... it comes
in sections so it's really configurable to lots of
different situations and set-ups, and has a gate piece
that you can put wherever you need. We have a weird
situation with stairs in our place, and it's been
perfect for us - we actually just zip-tied it (ours is
black) to the black iron railings, and it sorta even
looks like it belongs there. They're a bit pricey
new, but they show up on Craig's List all the time, and
are nearly impossible to wear out. I think they come 6
sections to a set (1 being the gate), and they're very
multi-purpose - perfect for changing as your kids grow.
Ours went from corraling them, to cordoning off our
stereo stuff. We even traveled with some pieces, to
set up around a Xmas tree. LOVE them! (Only thing to
be mindful of is the threshold across the bottom of the
gate piece - can be a bit of a tripping hazard for
first-time users.) The gate is easy for an adult to
use one-handed, but pretty much impossible for a kid.

This one isn't twin or toddler specific, but I've found
that Raising Your Spirited Child is great in
understanding just the *intensity* and other
characteristics that I'm having to learn to manage with
my twin toddler boys. They also have chapters in
persistence, sensitivity and other stuff like that. I
can't wait to hear what else others recommend.Kristen

seems great (still infants, so no experience with

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Bumbleride Indie Twin stroller.
The only negative was having to remove the cup holder
so it can fit through all doorways. It's the width of a
wheel chair so I fit in all doors and aisles :-) It's
also the lightest one I could find.Good luck!
