Consignment Sale**

Hello all,In support of the consignment sale, the
blackout for buying and selling children's items on the
classifieds is in effect now through May 1. The goal of
this sale blackout period is to encourage sellers and
buyers to participate in the consignment sale.During
this blackout period the classifieds tab will not be
accessible. If you have items or requests posted in the
marketplace they will reappear when we reactivate the
marketplace unless they expired during the blackout
period.If you have an item to sell that is not
something typically sold at the consignment sale (like
a timeshare or sofa) then please feel free to post it
in the General Discussion Forum.For more information

3. Important wedding 6 weeks after birth

Hi multiples moms... I posted this over at GGMG and
someone there pointed out that having twins might
impact the answers I'm getting. In short: We are
expecting our first babies (twins) this summer, and my
husband and I have been invited to the out-of-state
wedding of my husband's very close friend about 6 weeks
after my due date. I am not planning to go but I think
he should at least plan to go-- he's in the wedding
party, this is a super-close friend, and many of his
other close high school friends will be there as well.
I am planning to ask my mom to stay for a couple of
days, or perhaps even stay with my parents on the
peninsula while he's gone. Still, he is nervous about
leaving me alone with the babies so soon after the
birth, and I am starting to wonder if I am crazy for
encouraging him to go. Thoughts? What would you do?

Good for you for realizing it's overly ambitious for
you to make it. :-) If you have your mom or even
better, both your parents, you'll be fine. When it
gets closer, you can decide if you're more comfortable
in your own home, or if you'd rather pack up the babies
and go to your parents' house, but either way, your
husband should go and you guys will be just fine.That
said, he'll probably end up missing the babies more
than he could ever imagine, but he'll sleep better
while he's away -- even if he's out late at night --
and he will come home ready to jump back in and help,
and will be even more appreciative of all the work you
do.

I think you could do it on your own, but it would not
be fun. And in my opinion, having twins/kids/babies
should be fun (at least when you can actually do
something to avoid tough times)... ;-)If you have help,
you will be ok, and it will actually show you a
different side of being a parent ;-). I would suggest
speaking with your Mom to find out what her idea is of
helping, and how she would deal with a situation
if/when you might have different opinions. I know
there's only so much you can discuss before the babies
are there, but I think it would be helpful. Good luck!
BTW, we travelled cross country at 2.5 months with the
boys, and it actually went quite well. But we went to
see family, so we had plenty of help once we
arrived...And when we went (drove) to a wedding at 3.5
months to San Luis Obispo, we brought my Mom as our
support/babysitter, and that went well, too.Best of

That was a great suggestion. I had put in just "bed
rest" and came up with gobs of emails on sleeping
issues for twins.Those posts were great on celebrating
milestones, logistics, and discomfort. Some info on
entertainment. Curious to hear what activities people
did to keep entertained outside of the normal work,
books, and movies. Are there good places online to
meet up with other people on bedrest to talk?

I am not on bedrest but I highly recommend podcasts.
Not sure what your friend's taste is but I love This
American Life-- all episodes are available for
streaming on their website-- and the Savage Love
Podcast.
